Hello, I have a working prototype, it should be trivial for a blender C dev to implement this: imgur.com/a/Hn9aO7f Please add this feature! We can just have a new option next to: Creases | Sharp | Bevel | Seams

    bpy.ops.mesh.select_all(action='SELECT')
    bpy.ops.mesh.mark_seam(clear=True)
    bpy.ops.mesh.select_all(action='DESELECT')
    bpy.ops.mesh.select_non_manifold()
    bpy.ops.mesh.mark_seam(clear=False)
    bpy.ops.mesh.select_all(action='DESELECT')

It's crazy to me that Blender still doesn't have this function. I die every time I need to clean up a mesh and can't see open edges while I am merging verts. It should be an overlay for sure, but at the very least an option in the Themes > 3D Viewport. Maya has had this option for years now. Selecting Non-Manifold edges doesn't help to view them while you work because the moment you click on something, the Non-Manifold edges deselect. You can add them to a vertex group, but they will not update as you merge verts. You are right, this is trivial for a Blender dev.

For thoses who is still waiting for this function to be implented ,you all can try this addon

This addon does not work with subdivision surfaces

ibrahim

it also does not let you see your selected edges

Nick2321

works on my blender 4.1.1 with 0.40 version of addon ^^

Nick2321

u can tune down the alpha setting in the addon preset . that will make the overlay less transparent so u can see your selection

ibrahim

It doesn't work if you have Catmull-Clark subdivisions enabled

This still works in Blender 5.0.1. This add-on is a lifesaver. I can't believe this is not a basic feature in Blender yet. It looks like people have been asking for this for years now. Thanks for sharing!!

I myself would like to have this . I would suggest to put this in the viewport overlays , and have a trigger button on it . capable of adjusting color is also a must.

I know we have lot of selection tool to check on geometry, but most of time I would like to see the immediate feed back , without going through check them again and agian..... and again... especially on a complex enviroment .

This would be quite useful.
From my experience, working in architectural models, I sometimes end up with edges that perfectly line up but not necessarily connected.
This would allow me to locate these unconnected edges with ease.

I would love this option! Like LilacDogoo said, it would be very helpful to locate not connected edges.

This is astonishing that it is not implemented yet!

Hello guys

I am searching for this kind of feature for quite a time. As a part of automodive design development team we would use this feature constantly as a big benefit in our workflow.

My humble question is that if there is any develompent ongoing on this (or similar) feature. Or just to open this topic, remind it. As this request and couple of others are 3 years old already.

Its understandable that this feature is maybe not so requested or such a big priority. But still I believe in benefits also for those which dont know that they are missing this feature at all.

In general I can see that the viewport will need some new features to allow even more optimisation and individualization. And also to help us modelers to see even better the surface and topology quality, allow us to see mistakes we might have in model. Every feature which will help to improve our modelling capabilities and precision will push blender forward.

This would be a very useful addition especially were there are splits in the meshes that appear joined.

Yes please. :)

Great idea!
