Multitouch controls support for Blender
I have been a Blender user for years now, and I just got a new Android tablet (Xiaomi Pad 5). Using the app SuperDisplay, I have connected it to my PC in order to emulate a graphics tablet with touch screen.
Most programs allow controlling their interface by using the multitouch controls these provide. Take SculptGL ( stephaneginier.com/sculptgl/ ) as an example:
There, the program allows to:
- 1 finger move: orbit.
- 2 finger move: pan.
- 2 finger pinch: zoom.
(Note that this program doesn't have an option to disable touch interaction, for sculpting for instance, which would be a great addition).
Affinity has it too: imgur.com/OA3v4uy
So, my proposal would be to addthe same kind of controls previously stated in SculptGL to Blender, plus (optionally) some more:
- 1 finger touch + pen slide: change brush size.
- 2 finger touch + pen slide: change brush hardness.
These changes would greatly improve sculpt and painting workflows, as they would allow to fully control the viewport and work without having to leave the pen and tablet to use the mouse.
PS: This post is resurfaced from a previous one. Though, that post is 3 years old and so much has changed, both for Blender itself and for the community. That request is now inactive, but the problem still remains. Here's the original post:

It's a pretty common request I really wish they'd get around to implementing, especially with how prominent touch devices are, these days.
I created an add-on to make Blender a bit more useable with touch devices, if you wanna try it: nendo.gumroad.com/l/touchview
It's not multi-touch, but does improve workflow on a tablet device.
Multi touch doesn’t stop with two fingers. The idea that I would counter propose is what if you could hold a model with one hand and hold a brush with another hand. Both with freedom of movement this would improve the painting workflow but would require two event queues a dominant and a supporting one.
Just saying that a two finger touch will not touch the possibilities when talking about multi touch.
Internally Thieme are ideas we are looking at, but haven’t found a free developer who can focus on this project
Such a great idea! Hope it gets added soon, I'm struggling with it too 😖
