Don't hide the gizmo during Grab/Scale/Rotate
The gizmo in the corner of the 3D Viewport shows the axis labels... until you actually need it, and then it's gone. As soon as I hit 'g', 'r', or 's' the gizmo disappears... and that's when I go looking for "is it x or y I want to constrain?...".
This is a minor thing, but as an occasional/hobby user, it seems irritating. I'm curious if there's some good reason to hide the gizmo when editing. If there's a setting to not hide it, I haven't found it yet.
Thanks

Well, if you press x, y or z you will be constraining to that axis. Hopefully this helps already :)
IMO being able to completely get rid of the gizmo for some move/rotate/scale operations is one of blender's best UX highlights
* @ferran m.clar * I know I can press x,y,z... but which one. I always have to escape out of the g/s/r... Ok... I wanted 'x'... then back in. Or just try one, get it wrong, try the other. You said hiding is one the best UX highlights, how so? I'm genuinely curious why that's useful.
* @Slagheap * Oh, you meant the top-right gizmo? Then you are totally right, sorry :)
I think this is already a discussion topic somewhere in devtalk.blender.org
* @Slagheap * If you press X and its Y you wanted you don't have to escape out you can just press Y and it will switch. You can also use middle mouse click to bring up a selection for the axis you want to constrain to too. Another thing you can to is use shift + X to constrain to the YZ plane, shift Y for XZ plane etc. Hope this helps
while working in animation, we use translate and rotate hundreds of times per day, and being constantly pressing shortcuts it's very time consuming and tiring, so indeed would be a very helpful feature to improve animation workflow. thank you
