Geometry Node Tree Presets
There is an add on to save presets but it currently does not support geometry nodes

Agree 1000%. We need a easier way to create custom Geometry Nodes tools. Actual append method is overcomplicated.
Append is overcomplicated? How though? It's just looking through your file browser to find it, then selecting it in the geometry node editor.
As I understand, for easy of use, it should be as simple as:
1.- Pick a NodeGroup 2.- Right click and save the node wherever you like, ie: a Custom Nodes Directory.
Now that you have it saved you can share with anyone or archive for future use and:
1.- Import easily:
1-a.- Whenever you need go and "append" that node, or drag and drop it (even easier), or copy/paste, or... without the need to find a scene with that node inside and navigate the inner folders , etc. This is not easy at all for newbies.
1-b.- A preference in Blender to point directly folders of NodeGroups so it reads them automatically and them appears on a Custom Nodes category in the nodes list** If you organize the nodes directory in subdirectories Blender would create different categories inside the nodes list.
**Actually you can create a start scene with all nodes appended and it works pretty well, but only for new scenes. Older scenes o scenes from other users don't get those NogeDroups, so you have to reappend again and again... sigh.
As an addition would be lovelly that those Exported NodeGroups can contain versioning, creator data, text explanations on how to use, tags to categorize them, etc...
Cheers.
Ah, so basically you go to to the blender file, right click the node group, and click mark as asset, allowing you to then select it from the asset browser
Annnnnnd after testing it out, adding a node group as an asset is completely useless compared to appending. You have to reconnect the sockets to the group input
Would be handy. Right now the only method is node groups saves as assets. But they don't have actual node group presets.
