Coming from Max to Blender - Move tool and select.
So i decided to pick up Blender today and try to learn it.
There are some basic modelling functions that dont make sense to me within the first few minutes.
The first i noticed is the move tool and select tool when trying to select vertexes.
So in max, if i want to drag a box select around multiple vertexes, i just left click drag a box from the background and a box will appear then i can select the verts and move them around because in max both the move tool and the select tool are on all the time.
But in Blender i have to switch between the 2 before i can do the other, seems counter intuitive to me?
Can it be possible to have both on at the same time ?

well even me I pick up blender these few days. Coming from Maya and I know your feeling hahaha. hope the dev can make it official, it will speed the workflow. but if you can't wait, I already figure it out.
copy this one :
view3d.select _box

@klo-works: Thank you! I see you're coming from Maya. I think you would like this one .
@Oskar: That's Really Awesome :O thank you, hope it get implemented in Blender. I will try it when Iam free. there is one last thing I still want to figure it out which is the scale, when I scale the polygon face, edge or vertex it dose't flat. I will see if someone already post about this.
I think it will be when 3d max / maya presets will returns in 2.8x builds. In 2.7x were was a keyboard presets for 3dmax/maya users.
@klo-works:
sorry for my English
I absolutely agree with you! Left click select\deselect, Border select\deselect must work together with other tools (Move, Rotate, Bevel, Insert, Extrude etc) without switching. I think they did not do this because the same button is responsible for selection and moving manipulator at same time (left click). I proposed this, but not many people paid attention to this.:

I want it not because it's like in max, and it is convenient for me.. I really want the Blender to work that way (or very similar), because it is very useful, easy and quick to use and remember.
I agree, the way it currently works makes no sense to me too. But we are not alone. There is a big discussion going on. Let's hope this will be fixed.
Think those should be marriaged, posted that few days before. blender.community/c/rightclickselect/0scbbc/using-the-selection-tool-not-as-a-tool
A solution with even more Max/Maya like features is integrated in this keymap: blenderartists.org/t/a-proper-keymap-for-blender-2-8/1145406
usually we use the hotkey G to move. to move it on an axis, just press the key between x, y, or z. Same with scaling (S) and rotating (R)
@azizi6448: I think many people know this. But not many people know that hotkeys are not always faster than click and drag.
For example: G > Z > drag > click to release - it's not faster than click > drag > release Z axis
Or G > Shift+Z > drag > click to release - it's not faster than click > drag > release handle between X and Y axes.
But, proposal is not about that at all. :)
For now you can use "b" for box selection
@fabiocroldan: In max, you don't need to press the B all the time. Just click and drag and you already selectting something. Without switching between tools.
You're right, a lot of people have asked for this, I think that they will soon add box selection to all the tools.
