ColorRamp positional and color inputs

I'd love and miss use the color ramp for all kinds of stuff.
However what i miss is to have some finer control over it.
I'm aware there are behemots of node groups to emulate this.
But if one wants to work quickly as an artist without complex node setups. It be great if the color ramp node had inputs And yes that means it would exapand vertical if more collors would be added.

Maybe nice for a small sumer of code project ?

Generally speaking, we could benefit from nodes having more exposed inputs. For instance, I would also expose the positions of the gradients, as this can be used to create pallet cycling which can handy for creating flow effects.

The + and - buttons to add a color group
(and thus extend this node are still there).

What happens when you feed those inputs with textures?

* @ Lsscpp * well it does not exist yet.. i supose then one could blend from one image to another one ?. i made a mockup node in photshop.

* @ Lsscpp * The average value of red, green, and blue would be used for the 'Fac' inputs. For the color inputs, the color would be sent just as normal. Since the textures only output a single color at a time you would really be passing it a color. I just tested it against 'Fac' inputs using math nodes.
<code>(red + green + blue) / 3</code> does the exact same thing as just passing the color output.

This could be handy when using in groups...

added mockup (in which positional numbers dont match
that shouldbe 0.0 0.25 0.5 and 1.0

We might also just have two of them, the current one and something alike above, doing this in nodes is not practical as each reciepe would depend on the number of colors and blending type.. its way to complex. However lowlevel the code must allready be there only connecting the ellow and gray dots would need to be made.

I think this is a multi - duplicate post

At one hand it is fun to have it. At another, complex mixes and effects usually made with scripts (it is faster and have more flow). The problem. When you swaps positions 1 and 2, color 2 become color 1 and 1 become two. How it will be possible with fixed positions?

  1. it have been proposed multiple times.

  2. it would be different node - curent implementation use 1d texture for that,

if it would be dynamic it would have to be done in different way an it would be slow

It would be cool if the color inputs were to be displayed on the bottom of the color ramp window
