Surface facing sculpt brush with symmetry displays.

This sort of goes along with a previous proposal of mine in that in involves adjusting Blender's sculpting mode to fit with some of the general standards of sculpting programs set by the industry standard ZBrush.

In Blender, when you pull up the sculpting mode, the brush remains a constant circle on your screen as opposed to altering the circle to imply the angle at which it will be used. If you need reference to what I'm talking about, look at SculptGL .

It also shows a dot on the otherside, eliminating any guesswork for the exact location of the other brush (though personally, I think for Blender we should have circles on both sides).

* @Shimoon * That's good. Hopefully, Blender's sculpting can be even more like ZBrush soon.

The way I see it, industry standards of various software (often one of the original apps of that type) tend to establish the features, layout, functionality, etc. of other similar programs to allow for a 'universal' application of principles and workflow ( a bit like how Paint Tool SAI, GIMP, Krita, Corel, etc. tend to use Photoshop as a base model; or dozens of apps acting as variations of Microsoft Word ). Since probably above 90% of professional sculptors use ZBrush, I would say ZBrush definitely an industry standard ( if not one of the only options, with far less alternatives than Photoshop or Word ).

* @nic.d.humphreys * to beat Zbrush or 3d coat Blender needs two more important thigs, not only sculp branch: heavy optimization of viewport (blender dies with 10M polys, 3Dcoat still 15fps with 45M on matcap) and voxel system for free sculpt. Voxel system is partially available with sculpt branch (VDB remesh) but viewport is a pain for all industrial-level sculpts.

* @ Vyacheslav * Are there any proposals here for either of those?

Vyach

* @nic.d.humphreys * a lot. Devs know the weakness of vewport. Also there is no point to make proposals like «make it better» or «optimize it!» At least there should be links, documents, proposal to hire certain developer, who agree and can do it…

Vyach

* @Craig Jones * it use voxels only for remeshing. But not actual voxel structure for sculpt. I am using this branch.
