Remap constraint buttons.
Why?
Of course it have sense to map axis constraints to same buttons. But in case of Y constraint on
Y
button - it was kind of uncomfortable to use. Especially if it need to pres
Shift + Y
or
Ctrl + Y
. Even for me 1.9 meter tall man with big hands this
Y
was to far from " comfort " zone to use it easily. In UV Editor it was uncomfortable key mapping to because in UVs vertical constraint is not Z but Y so I need to use it for a lot but it need all the time move all hand to press this key. And because it is far and it need to move all hand I have to look at keyboard to press exactly
Y
button, I use Blender for long time but still can't pres this
Y
or
Shift + Y
automatically without looking at keyboard...
Proposed.
- Add settings to let user remap constraint buttons.
I want to remap this constraint for my self but I cant find setting for this. So first of all I ask not to change it for all users but let me set it to something other than
Y
. If some user want to remap all the constraint key - let him do this.

Maybe - also remap Y constraint to
Cby default. Perhaps map Y constraint closer to left hand " comfort " zone by default have much more sense than map it toYbecause it is Y constraint.
As always - thanks for reading. Also you can check my other suggestions .

I used axis Y with hotkey C in Blender 2.79, I can confirm it is useful.
tutorial on how to change Y to C
but not in English youtube.com/watch
blender keys are all over the place, it is a mess, I wish all more common keys would be close the left hand, and I try to do that myself, the default is awful, stuff like that would help alot!
I've been using it C as Y for a while too. It's genuinely the best !
Having the option to change these keys would be great.
You might like my proposal . There is an intuitive way for constraining to X,Y,Z with just one key.
