I think we can realise the function
Move the view
by LMB + RMB.
Right now this procedure reacting for last event from RMB as contex menu, but when LMB is pushed then contex menu can be turned off and give option to Move the view with change icon (hand) and change color on viewport icon on Navigate area.

It seems my very long reply to this was lost in the site upgrade :(
I mostly agree. It would have been extremely useful during those months where I did not have the ability to use my left hand.
We can dolly with just the mouse, we can orbit with just the mouse, we should have an option to pan with just the mouse.
So to get this right, you want to replace shift+mmb with rmb+lmb?
* @zorro.weaver * not replace, just give additional option to not only shift+LMB It's more to support this type behavior like Rotate Viewport by MMB when tool is active and other and other related feature request as similar.
* @Nurb2Kea * I hate Mac ;p It's option and possible to implement. Last time I think that I should more often write own addons I need something, but some solutions can be for global community.
