select only entities completely enclosed by selection rectangle based on mouse direction (ala sketchup)

In Sketchup there is a great feature where if you make your selection rectangle from the upper left to the lower right it only selects entities that this selection rectangle completely encloses. But if you select from the lower right to the upper left it will select any entities that this selection rectangle intersects.

It would be great to have this as an optional selection mode for the selection box and lasso. By default the selection behavior would not change so as not to mess up anyone's workflow. But if enabled, if you change the direction of your selection (upper left to lower right for selection box, clockwise vs. counterclockwise for a lasso) then it could change what gets selected.

Note: I have no idea how hard it would be to figure out clockwise vs counterclockwise for the lasso, so if that is too hard then just have it apply to the box selection mode.

Doesn't xray selection addon include such modes?
