automatically flip normals when scaled to negative values

maybe as an option for the scale tool.
most often after a negative scaling, I have to invert the normals. Why not save some time and do it automatically?

Its kind of like a papercut in a way As in, could report it and they'd fix it in a timely manner. Provided there are no uses for flipped normals on an entire mesh after scaling negatively

* @Reoxur * There probably are uses for flipped normals on inverse scale but I imagine that flipping the normal direction on scale to be outside is the desired result in more cases, here.

Hm. I just tried and all work well for object scaling. But for edit mode your proposal will add a lot of additional recalculations each time you edit mesh. So that is why there is separate operator «recalculate normals». May be there can be option for recalc each time, if you did negative scales and after exit from edit-mode.

It should not be fully automaticaly, because there are a lot of unpredictable cases, when normals should remain same as user done em

* @ Vyacheslav * You know, we already live in the 21st century with powerful computers and all the stuff)

I don’t think that recalculation of normals after the operation will take longer than you do it manually.

And in what cases do you need flipped normals after the scale?

* @verderblich * custom solidify by vertex groups Yo know, any powerful computer can be overloaded with powerful silliness

yes, this is needed in the official blender. I have seen this feature in Heavy poly build config for Blender. He calls the feature Enhanced Extrude.

I agree. I don't think anyone scales to a negative value in order to flip a mesh' normals. Did they also fix this for mirroring (Ctrl+m)?

Yeah - it would be nice if this happened automagically.....
