Keymap: Stop trying to copy Maya

What happened to the keymap?

It looks as if some Maya-frustrated troll had spent his time messing with all the shortcuts that many people took years to learn and above all that were coherent throughout the whole software.

Since the latest version, I have to customize and reconfigure dozens of shortcuts to get find the same coherence; once a letter means something, in the next minute/mode it means something totally different.

The curve edition is particularly damaged; the MMB is absolutely everywhere.

While the default keymap isn't perfect, I find it fairly consistent across editor types. The main UI inconsistency I've noticed is that the user cannot Ctrl-C/Ctrl-V modifiers - but that's a separate issue, one that already has its own post here, not an effect of Maya-loving trolls and gremlins. Which specific inconsistencies are troubling you? There are a lot of possible actions and two users' workflow might use entirely different subsets.

What are you talking about specifically, why is it broken, and what do you propose?

If you just complain out of the blue, your post is just a rant. That's not going anywhere nor leading to meaningful discussions, let alone result in development actions.

Maya and all commercial software always do not make changes, because it has to take care of the existing users. From this point of view, Blender and Maya are totally different. Blender is more radical. Obviously this has a price. Use pie menu to resolve hotkey conflicts.
