Very simple yet I find very odd it hasn't been added yet.

Look how autocad or sketchup work, or any other proper cad snapping system , its really on another level than the one we have in blender

Agreed, all the snapping can use an upgrade. I have seen a lot of suggestions form setting specific increments, more visual widgets, added to keyframes on the dope sheet, and I was hoping for the viewports snapping to be changed to Ctrl since that is what Blender mainly uses for it. Snapping is really helpful but I'm not sure if its the Dev's priority, but who knows maybe they will give it a go after 2.8 comes out.

I have to check that out.

@wondraknathan:
All these proposals are not meant to be priorities unless they receive enough upvotes to consider it vital for 2.8 Beta. Most of them, as Pablo said, could be small tweaks and jobs that anyone with the required skills could implement. Anyone could contribute and it can be a great way to learn too. If there is enough interest in revamping the entire snapping system as well as the knife tool which can also take advantage of it, then Blender regular devs might take it seriously enough to take it into consideration. I am sure they are also aware without me posting anything at all or many of the proposals. We are just trying to sort out by importance all the things should be fixed/added in the future.

a revamp of the entire snapping system is just simply too much work , i want to make a thread on it but i think that devs need to focus on 2.8 first...
cad workflow integration for blender is an old wish from a lot of people i think, as "if theres not enough interest" , you thread maybe look not related , but the feature youre asking is a "cad like" precision snapping feature like many others in cad softs .. and already 30+ upvotes in a day ...
this is manifestations and signs of many peoples wanting a more precise , "cad enhanced" edit mode , with an enhanced snapping system , precise work with units , more tools like "point move" "point scale" "point rotation" , "lines tools" ...( like the guys at "NP station" and "snappin tools" are doing with their plugin for example .. )
dont get me wrong the modeling system inside of blender is amazing ! but blender is a software used by everyone ! so peoples working in specific industry needing precision (architects , engineers, designers) will not be at their ease inside of blender edit mode

I totally agree with all you said. I think you should do that post. If the system evolves then Blender gets more users. I think that's the main focus. The industrial design is massive too. I am sure a proper CAD edit mode system would bring a whole new range of users.

* Indeed a lot of lack. the cursor can't be snapped too when moving it. so what is 2.8 in fact? particules are very average, physics are very average, textures are average, nodes very limited, compositing no comment, video editing still very heavy to use and very average...I don't really see what 2.8 is. more precise feature for modelling will be a good start...and text editor for scripting grrr. but maybe with better undo it will be more usable

look at threads like this blender.community/c/rightclickselect/3Dbbbc/ or this blender.community/c/rightclickselect/vMbbbc/a-correct-metric-system-right-now-its-nonsense , also lots of upvotes

The status is done, but how does it work?
