Fix 2.8 Selection Response Problems
Since 2.8 is released now I first time tried to model something in this new version. What I found is that selection work not as good as expected.
Here is kind of small investigation on Blender Devtalks
. I know that lot of people here don't read Devtalks, so I want to share it here and pay attention to this issue.
Shortly - click response delay has grown from Blender 2.79 1 - 2 frames ( in 60 fps captured video ) to Blender 2.8 6 - 8 frames!!! in best configuration with disabled new features. What cause disgusting work experience - time by time I clicked but don't get any response results.
If YOU find such " new version improvements " unacceptable and such " new Blender " not the Blender we all deserve -
vote up, bring attention to this problem
.
If YOU think this is all right and such " improvement " is good enough for you -
vote down of course
.
Both, if you have something to say - write what you thinking about this situation in comments.
As always - thanks for reading. Also you can check my other suggestions .

jeez. you can submit criticism without acting like a fanatic preacher.
* @Omgzdenek * Nope ... :)
Hmmm....I'm upvoting since although I didn't notice it, you are correct. It might have something to do with select being on release of the mouse button, not press.
I don't think I would ever select as fast as you have in the videos but some people might. In defense of the current situation brush, lasso and box select are very powerful.
* @lap.illustrations * Did you or anyone will buy "new" phone model if you knew that it works worse than previous one, which you already have? What a bullshit. Things does not work in this way.
No one will release "new " phone which work worse than "old" phone. If someone do this - he do something wrong.
A. Of course such fast clicking - is not something user could do all the time, but sometimes I do such quick actions. How do you think I found problem and started checking what is wrong and compare it to 2.79? Yes, I just tried to do something same I do every day on work ...
B. Lasso, Circle, etc. it's all good, but question not about finding alternative methods to select something in case when click response time grow up x 4 to 6 times in compare to 2.79.
Duplicate of this proposal
* @Jason van Gumster * Not exactly the same thing. That linked is a performance issue with many triangles. This is instead a issue about how the selection response of mouse button behaves and it is not dependent on numbers of triangles.
* @Mark Twinkle * A response delay is absolutely a performance issue. That's the main thing about the linked thread... general edit mode performance, not necessarily just with respect to high density models.
* @Jason van Gumster * Still not the duplicate - because I found actual problem and describe it + I compared it with previous version. This is not the spherical proposal in endless vacuum - please make things better.

Edit Mode Performance
Edit Mode Operations get slow pretty fast even on a Workstation. Between about 100k -300k polygons it starts to work slowly. Maybe the performance could be tackled at some point. In comparison to some "industry standard" tool edit mode performs poorly at times.
Really? So you want to you say that selection response issue is duplicate of this one? Maybe it need to just create one best ever universal suggestion
"Please make Blender the best ever software in whole world"and then mark all other suggestion as duplicates of this one? I'm just disappointed ...* @IIIFGIII * Fair enough.
It would be nice if you could include a possible solution to the issue.
* @Jason van Gumster * I don't think it's a duplicate. The other proposal is vague, but it's about Edit Mode. This is a general issue, and it's specific. In either case, complaints about performance aren't actionable proposals.
* @Josephbburg * so obvious
