Local resolution setting (per camera)

Right now resolution (width x height pixels) of render is global. I.e. it's the scene property and not the camera property.

While we can find a way of solving that problem on render step (render each camera one by one and changing resolution with script), it's not really possible to have multiple cameras with different resolutions in real-time preview.

Use case - working on animation, having different reference videos with different resolutions imported in Blender.

This idea was marked as a duplicate of Overwrite global camera resolution.

Exactly. I have scenes that I have to render both for animations (1920x1080) and vertical A4 or A3 stills for printing.

* @Eugene D * I checked the link and it seems that this add-on doesn't provide the functionality of setting independent viewport resolutions per camera.

APEC

* @den33.info * it does, I use it quite often. {attachment Resolution_per_Cameramp4}

* @Eugene D * But is it possible to have both cameras side by side without switching the resolution? Let's say I want to have two viewports - one with the camera of 512x512 and another with camera with 1024 x 1024?

APEC

* @den33.info * that's a very complicated, and I could wrong but it's not possible. You should ask this question on specific forum like blenderartists.org

* @Eugene D * Yes, exactly. That's why I've created this proposal. To have this feature implemented :)

APEC

* @den33.info * did you try make copy of the scene? like this, don't know other method...{attachment 123mp4} maybe not a full copy, linked could try. With this method you no need addon at all, I think. Yea, tried linked copy and it seems work fine, but you need new main window in your case. {attachment 123png}

* @Eugene D * I'll try this but I guess this approach could work only for modelling. The main purpose in my case is to use different reference videos while working with animation. I need to play videos from different cameras (not imported images/videos as empties) + playing the animation (bones, meshes, etc). I'm not sure about performance in that case with duplicated scenes. And also having everything in different scenes is not very efficient.

APEC

* @dene * agree, with performance may be difficult, proposal indeed useful, but how long it will take to implement if at all be noticed by developers

This really needs to be added, for presenting a character this is essential

The photographer addon has an option per camera to to override the global resolution. blendermarket.com/products/photographer

But yes, I agree would be nicer to have this option inside Blender by default.
