Cycles render difference only!

Guys, something would be really amazing.

Could we make it so that after rendering is done to the Render Result, we could modify the color of an item lets say, then draw a border and when we hit render ONLY that area of the image will be rendered WHILE keeping the whole previous render result ?

While that may introduce some artefacts, sometimes it wont. Would be nice to have.

There are a lot of ways to do this exact thing already with compositing - make a view-layer that has a collection for just the object you want to re-render, and a collection for everything else. Set the "everything_else" collection to "indirect only" and "holdout," and you should be able to simply alpha-over the single-object viewlayer on top of the original render.

Although I think a far more straightforward way to work is to render a Cryptomatte pass and just do all the per-object tweaks in the compositor with the Cryptomatte node.

* @Josephbburg * passes problem

Well, yes you can do that, but that's a fastidious way around x)

* @Josephbburg * if you are rendering with passes they should be also rendered the same way.

I'm sure this has been suggested before, but cannot find the earlier post at the moment. Anyone up for a search?
