Process Will Take a Long Time to Calculate - Warning Box

I saw this feature in Cinema 4D and thought it'd be a great addition to Blender. If you, let's say change the hair particle count to a very high number, Blender should pop up with a menu box saying that doing this will take a very long time to calculate on your computer, you could then press continue or cancel to avoid waiting for a long time or Blender crashing if you change your mind.

i like the idea of some kind of visual cue warning (little caution icon next to the text box?), but not the idea of a popup. for those of us who know what we're doing it's going to be like whack-a-mole because there are SOOO many settings that contribute to long simulation/render/mesh modification times.

The challenge is that since Blender is run on a very wide variety of machines in terms of computing power, how exactly do you set that the threshold for "very high" in an elegant way? And no... I don't think an option in Preferences is the way to go.
