"Add objects to local view" really needed
Hi there.
I'm working with big scenes, containing a lot of objects. So I use the "Local View" mode very often, to isolate objects for individual editing.
There is a function called "Remove From Local View" to remove objects from the current local view, but there is no function to ADD objects to local view.
Why not?! I would use it really every day.
So please, if this is not a big deal, add a function to ADD individual objects to the local view. As I remember, it was already possible to do this in earlier blender versions.
Thank you and regards
Chris

That's easily remedied with a script checkout out my answer blender.stackexchange.com/q/344830/142292

I would like to see the current hot key remapped to a toggle by default.
This way I could use the same key to remove from localView and add to local View.
These 3 actions should still be available to be key mapped to the users preference.
I tried these 3 actions already, it didn't work, and I even can't find these actions in blender identifier list, the version I used is 3.3
Yep, can be useful instead complex organizing view-layers and collections for temporary actions. But how should it work? The context of local view is a viewport. But you can select object only in outliner. What if you have 2 viewports with different local views? So in this case it should check, what views local in the current workspace and prompt choice. In case with one — just add to it.
* @ Vyacheslav * One way could be this:
Alternatively you can use a shortcut while keeping the mouse cursor position inside the target window area.
"Where the mouse position is, there will an object be added to local view. "
* @Christoph Werner * I forgot that context can help! That is the way I thought: when I selecting, my mouse is in outliner. So context is outliner. But anyway, I will move pointer into viewport to work with local view, so your way is good.
* @ Vyacheslav * Your idea is basically important, too. To add an object directly in the outlner is important because it's fast. Another alternative would be to add an dynamic menu point called "Add to local view" into the right-click menu inside the outliner. Such a menu point would be visible only, when needed / possible.
I also had that issue and the only way around it would be to hide all the objects except the parts you want to edit. Sometimes it works for me but I am not sure if that would be enough for some other projects.
* @johnpdelacruz26 * As I remember unhiding in object mode makes all objects visible. If you have some objects or collections organized to stay always invisible in the scene, then it leads into problems. Then you have to reorganize their visibility anew.
