DECALS, easier

Blender could really use an easy, native way to add decals.

Solution: A decal object type, which you set material to. It projects, replaces/blends in with the material of mesh objects that it touches. No extra steps, you just touch it to something.

Currently, making decals is possible, but not that straightforward. You either have to make complex node setups, use the shrinkwrap modifier, or get a convoluted addon.

Lumion has a good Decal system, so for inspiration: youtube.com/shorts/eEne3UQNWpQ

To me, this is a v1 feature. Such a mystery to me why Blender doesn't have it. (Same thing for radial array)

You can do it on the shader and add a brush with your decal , no skin wrap needed

I mentioned that. My proposal is to make it a lot simpler.
