Add "Set Origin" menu to the right click menu of Collection Instances.

"Set Origin" option doesn"t come up when you right click with a collection instance selected.

Many people struggle with collection instances because they don't know you can set their origin point. This would greatly improve discoverability for people who don't know and greatly improve usability for everyone.

BTW and regarding to our talks.. around global origin and the sense of this.. take point about CAD-like snapping objects (by basepoint) - 457hot in Development from 06 Jun 2018

while we're on the topic- exposing this will likely further confuse people because they don't understand that the origin offset is global for instances of that collection and not unique to the instance you apply it to.

* @testure * thats is diffrent problem that instance and collection doing incomprehension and disonanse. Origins can't be like quantum phisics and far froim intuition. If 10-15years child have problem with understand, thats mind is to complicated : ) There was disscus about this here blender.community/c/rightclickselect/Kghbbc/

The problem is around Bledner that distributing many functions far from main GUI and area of functions.

what?

* @testure * Nah. People are hella confused right now and totally unaware of this ability. I'd rather know how to tie my shoes and then become aware of the thousands of more complicated knots that exist over not knowing how to tie my shoes.

* @testure * The more I think about it, the more I think collections should just be hidded by default. All a beginner really needs is parenting/heirarchy and the ability to hide an object from the viewport and from the render.

When they get to the point where they wish they had "layers" they can turn on collections and also by that point they might be ready to start learning about the additional power of collections.

* @thinsoldier * I still on position that collection can be repaired as you wrote, but more sense is "Component" with diferent properties ; ) Eg.:

  • virtual origin
  • editable component any instance
  • boxed instance of component and movable but any edge/face/vertex
  • make unique component (decomposition/explode)
  • unlimited hierarchy level

..etc
