Duplicate - Option to Include Children
When duplicating an object, in general I want the children of that object to be duplicated with it, an option to enable this behavior and to be able to make this the default behavior would be great!
I recently posted the idea of including the option to also delete children when deleting a parent object. But the other side of this coin would be for Duplication to have the same option
It would also be great if this would also work in the outliner. Currently is quite a hassle to duplicate multiple hierarchies there.

For such and many similar easy to do tasks i highly recommend to use pie menu editor witch includes macro operation creation. So macro 'select all children and delete' and 'select all children and dublicate' very easy could become part of your workflow.. PS large count of community proposals can be easealy resolved and converted into hotkey, menu item, pies etc without any knowledge of coding... Highly recommend yo to check it out)
or as a free alternative an addon Action Recorder (formerly known as Command Recorder)
I think that duplicating or deleting anything would include all it's children by default. This is pretty standard in all software I know, for example also with folders in windows, folders in photoshop, hierarchies in Maya, Unity, Unreal etc. I would go as far as to say that als just selecting and dragging a top transform in the outliner would move the whole hierarchy by default (or duplicate and delete).
I can make a macro out of it but I think it would help Blender in general to be a slight but more intuitive. Just like left-click select. Maybe this discussion is hitting on a slightly bigger topic (how hierarchies work in Blender in general)
This should be the default behavior when duplicating an object with children, with the current behavior as an option.
This stackexchange shows the relevance furhter. As of rn 25k views. blender.stackexchange.com/questions/27715/what-is-the-quickest-best-way-of-duplicating-an-object-with-children-so-that Many people look this up, as its a expectation from other Software (to my mind come right now Unity, and the layer system in Adobe software) For better usability this checkmark would be a great usability enhancement and it Probably shoud be set by default.
