3ds max-like snap tools

the ability to have more options related to snapping like snapping to face center etc.... plus the ability to snap from a vertex or edge etc to another. like dragging a cube from a certain point over to another object's specified point instead of closest which is really convenient and doesn't need going back and forth in edit mode and changing constantly between closest center and all the other options. it would be a plus if we can have the options of 2d 2.5d and 3d snapping just like 3ds max does. I know that an addon called blender snap utilities exists but it's not yet implemented in and if it does it could be better in the snap section.

I agree that there are still some essential snapping features missing from blender. Fortunately for us the creator of the snap utilities addon has actually been working as part of the core developers team on improving the snapping and transformation workflows. :) Here are some of the tasks, that might interest you: Snap Tools , the Snap Gizmo and Transforming with a base point .

* @lone_noel * those are fantastic tools if they are to be implemented in blender soon. 👍👍

This proposal needs to be more detailed like how each option work,, also the Dev who developed snap utilities is the one working on the precision modeling part..so maybe try to give him a more detailed presentation on Devtalk.

* @Pascal 0 * hmmm actually I don't know if I need to give more details cuz the idea of precision snapping already exists in other softwares such as 3ds max and autocad. in fact I heard about him working on the precision modeling development but I gotta say one thing. blender's modeling tools are way grater than 3ds max's and that's because of two reasons. speed and convenience. yet still it lacks something that would make blender really and officially a cad software and that is the snapping tools I was talking about plus (in my personel experience) being able to add objects by drawing them from one point to another instead of just adding them to where the cursor is. especially adding curves that unfortunately sucks in blender

* @IIIFGIII * I tried it out and it was just as amazing as I wanted it to be

You can do 2.5d snap in Blender – it's just that like so many things in Blender it's not exactly intuitive. On The other hand like so many things in Blender it's actually more powerful than the obvious approach. The trick is to move the vertex in constrained mode but instead of placing the vertex over the target place the cursor instead. The beauty of this approach is that you don't have to be in an orthogonal view to use it. Instead it works relative to your selected transform orientation so you can see if the snap worked.

Yes, it would be grate to have such tool
