Enhance nodes interaction in zoomed out context
Issue
Quick node connections while zoomed out in node editors are difficult to make in a precise way. So a lot of interaction is wasted re-framing the view.
Ideas for improvement
- An absolute sized text label, displayed while a connection is in progress. This could be optional and showed only below a zoom threshold.
- can be in a fixed position aligned with the node slot or linked to the mouse cursor position
- if linked to cursor, the label shoud swap when the hotspot of the In slot is touched as in the second pic
-
A magnifier zone folowing the cursor, much like the minimap view proposed here projects.blender.org/blender/blender/issues/86723
-
A temporary zoom tho mouse position while a key combo is kept pressed. Inverse birds eye feature in PS youtu.be/x3gUUiOJDL8
As a note, none of this is original and some have been even developed and presented before but for some reason abandoned.

You just fit very powerful addon for working with nodes VoronoiLinker, in it in addition to visualization of the socket, also implemented a lot of convenient functions youtube.com/watch
Excellent idea. I find these connections a challenge when zoomed out, building a complex node setup.
It is in the same spirit of my "Node Wrangler - Connect to Final Material Output" two suggestions down in this forum: Make node editing more efficient!
