generated UVW pass
Generated uvw's for all objects would be really useful for post work in the compositor, but currently the custom AOV system requires a user to set these up for every single material, which is a lot of work or often problematic if the scene has linked assets. Rendering with a material override is often not feasible due to the additional render time needed.
Could we get a generated UVW pass in the properties panels viewlayer -> passes section? This would create a pass showing generated uvw's for every object in the scene.
So instead of this (which needs to be done for every material or by rendering a second time with a material override):
We have this:
Of course the ideal solution would be this feature request:

But this request would be incredibly handy until that becomes a reality.

Topic requires more options than described in the task. Generated uv isn’t something standard and a shader can have zero, one or ten of them. So artist has to pick which one to output.
So technically and perhaps fine for most cases is to only support zero or one generated uv, but users will arepirt a bug when they aren’t able to control which one will be outputted or can't output multiple.
I suggest to create a script that maintains the AOVs and update generate missing at pre render step. I don’t see we can make this deterministic for all cases without adding the needed node setup.
I think he meant Generated texture mapping instead of UVs that are automatically generated, basically what we would get if plugging a Texture Coordinates' Generated output to a material output and set that material as override of the whole render:
Hi Jeroen. I mean a separate pass to accompany the existing UV pass (the one that uses the selected UV map in the geomety's data panel).
So instead of this (which needs to be done for every material or using the method shown above by L0Lock (requires rendering twice, not a good solution for complex scenes with huge scene compilation times):
We have this:
Of course the ideal solution would be this feature request as it allow endless possibilities without further developer intervention (once coded):

But that I imagine would be a long way off, so this request would be great in the meantime.
are you talking about like object coordinates?
no, generated uv's like you get from the shader editor's texture coordinate node.
