Modifiers for collections

Hi, I think it would be usefull to have possibility to add modifiers not only for object, but to collection. Usefull for mirror, array, bevel, triangulate and so on. Something like that i.imgur.com/uPm9C1v.mp4

How about allowing modifiers to propagate to child objects?

I think it should be possible to add modifiers to collection INSTANCES.

@Josephbburg: Yes at least array and mirror modifiers.

we've talked about this several times, it's not a possibility since the moment that an object can be in multiple collections.

@Luciano Muñoz: I understand now !

This is because collections are not used for structuring the model but for organizing the views (render views, layer views, ...). Blender has currently not way to structure a model in a tree of objects and sub-objects.

But I see a solution to that problem if a new "composite object" is added to Blender. I will start a new suggestion for that with an dedicated title.

@Luciano Muñoz: Objects should not be allowed in more than one collection. This hampers a lot of possible workflow upgrades and it bothered me from the begginig. Mentioned issue is only one of them.

@pcsd24: Do you know what collection instances are made of, is it just a visual duplication?

pcservice.dordogne

@karja: For me, collections are a way of organizing objects in logical packages so that you can easily manage them (show/hide, include in/exclude from rendering, etc). Not for structural purposes in my sense.

@pcsd24: Blender have a way to structure a model in a tree of objects, to see it you have to - turn off Collection in options of Outliner.

Also I think we should have possibility to add modifiers to Empty - objects and by doing so have its children be affected.

The most simple and needed idea:

Adding Subdivision Surface Modifier to group of objects.

I agree with this proposal. I think it is very necessary for a non-destructive modeling flow. I also made a post with a proposal in this direction.

I think adding Modifiers to empty objects instead would be a better way.
