Compositor Node Evaluation Cache
I noticed that changing one node in the composer forces to rerender ALL nodes. Yes you can enable two pass, which will render in two passes, still all nodes will rerender.
We would need a cache per node (switchable) so that only the nodes that are tweaked will rerender in the preview.

The compositor is lacking developers currently, but I've often thought about contributing some things like this myself. Node caching is one of the many features the compositor desperately needs.
* @Zach Hixson * please please do! This would be great.
kind of a duplicate of this one blender.community/c/rightclickselect/rfbbbc/ but yes agree, would be very useful!
Switchable (can be muted like a regular node), cache node has been added to Styriam Toolty addon. During animation rendering it can be disabled by default. Toolty's compositor utils also allow to run compositing nodes (like file outputs) without re-rendering whole scene. youtu.be/tIkmz6gtdAQ

Does this still work? Would love to get this as a standalone addon, I don't really want any of the other stuff cluttering up my blender....
Yes please! Maybe a dedicated cache node? This could also be useful inside a complex material.
