Architecture Modlling
Hi I am really new to Blender. I am trying to import DXF to Blender but It does not come to proper scale. Even I apply the ration 1m = 3.28084 ft. As I want to work in Imperial scale. It give error. Secondly, Why one has to always draw measurement out side then snap with the line. Which is so much time consuming. Snap too does not have clarity. It only snap to end point. What if I want to snap mid point. Is there is anyway to do? I had ask this question previously but I didn't get any answer for the same. As being an Architect I like to work with precision.
Regards

Perhaps install freecad from there do a conversion that blender supports (stl 3ds?) Blender is not a áutocad alike program, i would recommend to use the addon measureit, but also warn before usage if you edit a mesh later the edges can get renumbered and measureit then takes some random alike new points to measure. use measure it with a bit of care its the closest tool for create autocad alike drawings
You've described a problem that you're having (a few, actually), but you haven't really proposed a solution to it. This site is where we post proposals for actionable ideas on how to improve Blender. You mentioned an error, but you didn't say specifically what the error is... or if you reported it on the bug tracker. Snapping apparently doesn't do what you want, but you haven't mentioned which version of Blender you're using.
Be specific in your proposal... and use the search feature to make sure no one has already proposed it.
* @Jason van Gumster * I really didn't know where to ask my quarry. So I just asked this particular Blender Community.

* @Jason van Gumster * I am using Blender 2.8
* @tushar_ar * If you want to propose a new feature or improvement to Blender, this is the right place. If you are reporting a bug, you should post to developer.blender.org . If you are looking for help, then you may want to check out blenderartists.org or blender.stackexchange.com .
* @Jason van Gumster * A proposal for helping out with giudelines of Right-Click-Select. Best regards :) Here's a link: blender.community/c/rightclickselect/vRdbbc/
How about clicking ctrl+a and select apply scale? Blender is already a capable tool for precision modelling you just have to learn how to work around it. Beginner/Intermediate tutorials might also be helpful for you to be more familiar with the tools and workflows to achieve what you are planning to model.
With all these said, I believe blender is already working on improving the program to be more functional and useful for things like precision modelling.
* @johnpdelacruz26 * It does not work. Probably It is a Add-on DXF issue. Regards
* @tushar_ar * Is this the addon you were referring to? blender3darchitect.com/cad/importing-dxf-files-to-blender-2-8/
There are some notes below that might provide some solutions to the things you are encountering.
-Can I import DWG files? Solution: Unfortunately you can’t import DWG files directly. You can convert them to DXF using this free resource.
-I got an error trying to import the DXF file. Solution: You probably have an unsupported version of the DXF. Use this tool to convert the DXF file to an older version like 2012.
-The lengths of all my architectural elements are wrong! Solution: You will probably have to apply a scale factor to the drawing. Use the scale tool and set a factor that will proportionally get you the correct measurements.
If the notes above still doesn't fix the problem this old post might give you some ideas about adjusting the ratio of your scale to blender. :
