Because it's not in "any" other program. This is functionality that you frequently see in CAD programs (and a feature I personally find annoying). Maybe I'm out of the loop, but this is not something frequently seen in digital art applications.
Could you elaborate? I'm not sure I understand what you mean. I've never seen any program that selects the things that are outside of the selection box. That seems pretty counter intuitive if you ask me. You could select the parts you want normally, then CTRL + I to invert it if that's what you mean
* @MizManFryingP * I am not talking about objects outside the box. Currently, in Blender, you select every object that is even PARTLY within the selection box. In other applications, you have the option to only select objects that are FULLY within the selection box. (usually one option is when you drag left to right to create the selection box and the other when you drag right to left) It's a VEEERYYYY useful tool that you really appreciate once you've tried it...
* @anikolo * Ahhh I see what you mean. So unless it is fully inside the box, don't select it sort of thing. I personally don't see myself using this feature but I'm not necessarily against it.
* @MizManFryingP * I made a new post with my arguments here: blender.community/c/rightclickselect/Vqdbbc/
hi, I came here searching for the same thing. I believe that this is another thing that inhibits people from migrating to blender from other applications. Most of the people I know (non blender users) consider this one of the core tools in their way of working. Please make it happen (at least as an option)
I did not understand what you mean...
we need this
