Orthographic views for local axis
When editing a mesh that has an odd rotation on the world axis, entering orthographic view always displays the mesh with respect to the world axis. In my opinion I would be useful to be able to go to an orthographic projection with respect to the local axis, where things like snapping to grid can be used without being aligned to any of the world axis.

The axis indicator at the top right can have two mods as local and global. When you change to local mode you can click axis to align view to local axis.
@betmen: I think amorato would like for it to rotate the view according to the selected object's axis. The transform orientations do not work for the Fr/Bk/Top/Bot views. It's always at world.
So I'm guessing.. If you selected a box that is rotated and select one of the axis from the gizmo.. It will go to that side view but respect the object's rotation. It will not be the world's placement but the object's placement.
Please add this functionality. Alt+Numpad 1;3;7

Overlooked this post so I made one a few days ago. It's been 3 years 🤔
Would this be an all the time thing, or optionally available? How would users configure this if were on option?
@Jason van Gumster: I think this could be an all-the-time thing, perhaps Ctrl+Alt+1;3;7 etc. aligns you to the object's local axis. Also with 2.8 we could even add a tiny toggle on the view navigation gizmo, allowing you to switch to local/world axis alignments.
