Individual resolution settings for cameras
Blender does so many complicated things very well and is to me, very intuitive. But one thing I wish it could do is have individual resolution settings for each camera in a scene. For Archviz, I might have several cameras with different resolutions. I wasted 30 minutes of rendering time because I forgot to switch cameras resolutions for some of the renderings. It's just annoying. Other programs I have used can do this. It would be very helpful.
This idea was marked as a duplicate of Overwrite global camera resolution.

would be useful for a scene with multiple camera angles using a mix of portrait and landscape sizes! I guess the issue might be if someone renders a scene that switches resolutions or aspect ratios as it plays
Are there any updates on this essential features? I do archviz and it's the same with me, tedious work, such a convoluted process for such a simple thing. there's so much room for mistakes and bad renders as is. please this needs to be fixed. thanks (multiple scenes is not a solution, that creates unnecessary entropy and more room for more mistakes).
I think it could be an option. A simple check box to link the resolution to the camera. If I have 18 cameras in a project with half of them with various resolutions, I think my idea holds a lot weight. I know this from experience.
Plus typically, once a resolution is set for a camera, that is the intended resolution, not something else. That's why we set it in the first place. Set and forget would be the best option. As of now, it is set and reset as needed, if you remember to reset. it is annoying.
The moment you make render resolution tied to a specific camera setting, you're going to have the opposite side of the userbase rendering the wrong size, because they didn't change every camera setting to the desired output size.
I think it should be a default render resolution, overridable per camera
I'm curious as to why you have different cameras with different resolutions... I cannot recall doing this much in production.
(not saying you don't need to, i'm just curious why you do - i don't work in archviz, so i don't have a similar pipeline, for sure)
Image you did a work and you need to render for Instagram (square), story format (vertical 9:16), banner (16:9), etc, etc. You get the idea
I might have some cameras with a landscape layout and some with portrait layout. Some cameras I am matching resolutions to aerial photographs that will have a different format/ resolution to the interior renderings. That kind of thing.
in archviz you model a house/building. then you have interior and exterior shots. exterior shots go landscape and interior go portrait, then details go for other aspect ratios, these are just examples. i'm currently rendering a building and i have at least 20 cameras, most of them require different resolutions. i've tried using different scenes to manage all the resos, it works in theory, but practically, it's such a mess and creates so much entropy that you might be doing edits in the wrong scene, it affects the other, then you only realize the mess later on, and you cant go back then you have to manually fix the mess up and suddenly you're going mad with all the scene managing. In sketchup, each camera, each resolution, simple, bam! so easy.
The Photographer Add-On has solved this issue for me. I can use it to have any camera at any resolution and orientation. Works great and other cool features as well.
