Decouple axis display from Grid display when in orthographic (2)

When in orthographic view , the main Red, Green and Blue axe lines are always displayed when the Grid display is ON .

I'd like to have grid ON but don't see the axes I've disable. This only happens in orthographic view.

( This is a flipped (+minor rewrite) of the original post . Seemed more to the point than my story ... which in my case is mainly related to creating really clean screenshots ... for publication )

Nice catch! They should be independent.

It's being worked on now: projects.blender.org/blender/blender/pulls/138694

Thanks for the proposal!

Aaaand it's done! It will be part of tonights nightly build, and Blender 4.5 LTS. projects.blender.org/blender/blender/commit/836247a146d0f81af38089a283e25145da5e3f7b

Less than 12 hours between the post being published, feature coded, reviewed, accepted, and pushed to main :)

That was fast! Is this what we call a speeding ticket?

its good thing but people already get used for years. Now its hard to know where is the 0.0.0 area in orthographic. Is there at least an option to make the middle grid line thicker ? or blue? or an option to turn Axis specific for orthographic view

Honestly, I'd like this one reverted. I enjoy seeing XYZ full time in a side/top/front view, and never Z in perspective.

Now that's it's synced, that's not possible.

And, with it OFF you can't see the center line...

I already wrote a post about this issue: blender.community/c/rightclickselect/21qK/

They plan to make the grid thicker, but it might not happen until Blender 5.0 or later. That means I'm planning to go back to version 4.4.

I'm surprised they made this change so quickly without realizing it could cause problems.

Cool & thanks. :-)

Ps: The original idea-post state should probably also be updated.

I'm actually surprised it isn't linked to the existing axis overlays toggles like it already is in perspective.
