Hello Pablo ! How are you? This is not a question but I only wanted to give some congrats to all the Blender developpers team and the community developpers for what they've been cooking for this new version! Thank you

Hey Pablo hope you are doing well I have 3 questions!!

  1. I was testing blender in tablet mode on windows 11 and was wondering if there were any plans on improving functionality for windows tablets. For instance sometimes you would have to double click because I think blender would register 1 click as a move of the mouse and the next as an actual click.

  2. Whole doing my experimentation of blender with tablet windows 11 I've noticed what everyone says when they say blender is too complex to learn. Without shortcuts blender becomes a toxic thing to learn. Though I eventually got my bearings after looking in places this needs to be severely thought about, I don't know how the UI could fit everything in the menus but the menus themselves are problems

  3. Are there any plans for layered texture painting in native blender? I saw some people asking in chat so just wanted to ask for them ucupaint addon serves my needs but a question about main blender never hurt.

Also i agree with not removing speed control strip in video sequence editor its very useful

Hello Pablo. Thanks for all the updates again. Looking forward to 5.1.

I have an unusual question today. Who can I talk to to pay for updates in Blender or roughly how much would it cost to hire you to add a line tool (with X,Y,Z input) to the object mode in Blender? Like the mesh line tool that was in the edit mode before but removed from Blender. Like the line tool in almost all the other CAD programs. Click to insert the first point then click to insert end point also with a way to type in the X,Y,Z locations and distance if needed after we axis lock a line after we start drawing it. I want to use Blender for drawing 3D buildings with unusual shapes and lots of 3D triangular pyramids, etc.

Also if the communities here are discontinued what happens to all the ideas we have submitted to Right Click Select over the years and the votes? I hope all the info can be saved somewhere.

I think a better idea would be to check for interest on the devtalk, and if people are receptive, look for a community dev to help you make a feature and pull request when we're in the feature dev phase.

personally, just making two vertices and typing in their locations in edit mode feels fine to me.

and right click select is going nowhere, or at most just a backend database being worked into something more effective. it's this particular chat which is vestigial.

Hi Pablo,

I hope you're reading this. Regarding the discussion about "timeline" and "dope sheet"... I would change the name "dope sheet" to "timeline" and get rid of the "timeline." Regardless of what the industry standard is. Blender is Blender, not Maya or whatever. And it shouldn't be a problem to add a button to the current dope sheet editor via the "Show Buttons" on the main menu column that turns it into a "dope sheet." In other words, a switch between a "clean" timeline and a timeline that shows us the keys. I hope what I'm writing is understandable. ;)

Best regards, Fred

Hello Pablo ! Hope u doing better than better ! Was wondering if there is any specific reasons that node groups don't support dynamic number of inputs like Menu/Index switch nodes yet ?

Thx for ur reply ! Have a sweet day !

nubnubbud

Oi, Pablo!

not much today, but when you mention the video clip editor it reminds me how nonstandard its UI is. it's made like an addon, with most buttons adjusting or activating scripts to run, like the oldest simulation menus, but with the options scattered between menus on both the left and right edges of the editor. With all the compositor updates and VSE updates recently, it might be time for the Blender VFX revolution! (and another live action blender open movie hmhm?)

jackrocky2213

Pablo, can you please tell blender team to add Geo Node Modifier Output Attributes to be used as drivers😭 blender.community/c/rightclickselect/6WvN/ blender.community/c/rightclickselect/gpm9/

good night

Hi Pablo! Thank you for doing these regular updates! :)

Wanted to ask: Now that we actually got compositor support in VSE, what are the chances that in the near future we may be getting:

  1. new VSE modifiers as essentials-assets node groups (similar to what we got with geometry nodes and compositor assets in 5.0)
  2. modifiers/compositor support for the image editor as well? Would be amazing to speed up workflows and make Blender basically a image editing software as well, which would be awesome!
ChameleonScales

Hi Pablo! Quick one : are you still a right-click selector?

chris12

Pablo love the textures. Hope heaps more get added. Physically accurate ones. Any good photo matching plugins for Blender? So I can match the 3D to photographs that are a bit fisheyed or warped?

nubnubbud

I don't know about warped lens stuff, or even if it's mathematically possible without knowing the warp characteristics in advance. normally you warp the camera in post. that's a core concept of VFX- that you get perfect inputs, then you change the scene, and inject imperfection after the changes. Blender has compositor tools to de-lens-warp a scene even, and the tracker can compensate a bit too

Ian-Dorow

Hello Pablo! Congrats and thanks to all Blender team for another huge and great release coming.

I want to bring attention to Speed Control endangered state. It's queued for deletion, but it is one of the most important tool for animation an motion graphic workflow. It is far superior to Retiming Keys because it uses actual F-Curves. More details here blender.community/c/rightclickselect/EKqY/

Sorry to bringing it here, but I do not know where I can bring it else, because I think my post went unnoticed by the team on the RightClickSelect.

Hi Pablo ! Some times ago, in a video on YT, leaked out some rumors about modeling, rumors about very big changes, about a new modeling paradigm in Blender and I would like to know if there is any truth. The source I'm referring to is this video ( youtube.com/watch , which in turn quotes the Blender Conference 2024 - Roadmap) and in short the news are about SDF (signed distance function) implemented natively in blender, Gaussian Splatting and NURBS. Can you confirm those rumors?

Hi Pablo, Thank you for Blender Today; it’s very useful! I have a question, please. The Extensions repository is a great feature, and it’s open to other editors, but very few people use it, which is a pity. I remember the announcement of this functionality, and I believe it’s also open to sellers. Why does almost nobody use it?

nubnubbud

it's new, and most are already invested in or used to other existing platforms. and that's okay. It's worth it just for the official extensions. addon developers are surprisingly conservative in how long they wait before making something to fulfil a need.

som_render

Hi, Pablo! can we finally call this feature request done?

Hola, Pablo! Hope you get feeling better. I have heard so much about DLSS in Cycles.

Do you know how this is progressing?
