Hi, Pablo, hi peepl!

Here is a topic (pure colors for wireframe) developer.blender.org/D10436 It is just one example. But I have feeling, that developers think, that such things are just cosmetic or so…

Question: So i am interested, do devs discuss it seriously? Do you have someone inside developer team, who have skill with complex deep modeling, when there are many details inside details, inside details, inside… ? Like mechanisms/engines/buildings.

Because only on this level of modeling the problem appears sharp and clear. And only man with such skill can explan the depth of issue.

Are there plans to update Workbench at least to the level of Blender 2.79 quality?

Another one, similar: outline ruins silhoette and can`t be 1px width developer.blender.org/T95884

Hi, we do think these are important, but it is all about priorities. That is the reason why we ask for community effort to help with these improvements. The main issue is that there are hundreds of features for every developer working on Blender.

okay, got it!

Now I see period, that I can call «new features + performance». I like it, I waited it long time after 2.8, and it came after previous long period «more new features, bunches of them!».

But I hope, there will be new period like «No new features, but review, remastering, performance for old features and core-users».

Remember, that core users are those people who spread blender among specialists, inside companies, not just among green newbies on Youtube. They build industry-future of blender.

And do not be afraid of «no new features» policy. They will appear anyway with polishing old functions and core.

Hi Pablo,

3 questions, will we get groups in Blender?

There's a very simple feature that's not in Blender, that's basically keeping the edge flow while adding loop cuts, there's an addon for that but since it's just one simple feature, will we have that in Blender since Blender is definitely known for being the best DDC for modeling.

The current light groups feature is great and future light linking and groups definitely need a separate UI or window in the future, the current way of doing it will get very confusing and messy once you have more than 10 lights in the scene.

Thanks, and have a nice day.

Also, how do I contribute to the development of Blender?

There are groups in blender, they are the left overs from pre blender 2.8 branch. Blender uses collections now. There are some add-ons which work with the group option

Hey Pablo! I make a material pack and I have a problem with the shader nodes. I have grouped all node trees of the materials into groups, but the problem is, that I can't find a center or something like that in the shader nodes, because every time I go to a new material, I have to press "a" to select everything and then realign the view. Because every group in a material has a different position. Is there a way of centering things like groups or nodes in the shader nodes? Or do I have to try that manually? There should be an operator. It sounds simple.

And my second question: can we expect somewhen, that we can expose more sockets out of groups in shader nodes like checkboxes or even the color ramp slider? In Geometry Nodes the group functions are much more advanced. Some of them can just be ported over like integers or booleans. A lot of people and content creators need that.

And wouldn't it be awesome to use the multi-socket on other nodes like math node: "add" and on operators like "multiply" it would then use the operator on the hierarchy of plugged in values. That would make lives soo much easier. Especially for crazy magicians like Erindale.

Thanks for the show and happy easter! Blender is amazing!!!

Hey ask him add single pass rendering option that will save hours of rendering ❤️

I believe each node tree and node group have its own x y zero point. There is an addon with which you can align and distribute nodes. Perhaps if you add shortcuts or make a custom pie menu it would be more handy for your workflow. I also find that offset a bit weird. Each material group or whatever is always out of the screen visual area. I add a shortcut to center view, but i need to select stuff first. So I do A and the then the center shortcut. This frames the selection in the view again

Have a look at this addon, it's a different one i from the one i had in mind. But it looks quite useful

Hi Pablo. Hope you're having a wonderful night. Is there any chance of getting some CAD tools like this blender.community/c/rightclickselect/QTbbbc/ now 204 people have asked for tools like these in Right-Click Select. Finger crossed ❤

I love the Mesh: Snap_Utilities_Line addon but it doesn't rotate when you start drawing and use the middle mouse button to rotate like with the knife tool. A small rotate update there would be fantastic. I don't think it's a bug though.

Hey Pablo! Happy long weekend, hope everything is awesome for you.

I remembered a long time ago you were talking about a feature for rendering that allowed you to progressively render, and output images at various progressions for samples. This is great for deciding what number of samples you want, just leave it and come back.

Did anything happen to that? I think at the time you had to use the command console to make it work or something like that.

Hi Pablo. What do you know about the unified physics conversations that are happening internally?

Do you think it would be a good idea to have multi input on the math/mix nodes so that you could add/mulitiply unlimited inputs instead of having a mix node for every pair of inputs.

Hi Pablo! Does the new spline types development mean we will be able to render splines directly, in the form of hair, with no need to sweep geometry along them?

h.goudey

Yes, that's one of the goals, it's already possible with Cycles!

Hello Pablo and everyone. Where is the code for the Add > Mesh items in the source code. I wanna make a plugin with a new shape. I'm new to coding but wanna try customising Blender. I wanna also make a render button on the render winder so I don't have to use F12 as my Mac doesn't have functions keys. A button is easy to click.

jeroenbakker

Hi the add-menu is a menu and you can add menu items to it. Check the Templates => Python => Operator Mesh Add for an example.

You know that you can change the keymap to map the render button to a different key. In stead of creating your own button you can add the existing operator to any panel.

@jeroenbakker thanks for the super useful reply. I'll check into that now.

For a rendering button, I'd prefer to have a button on the render window as I like clicking buttons with a mouse more than using lots of shortcuts as I can't use my left hand much. It's just for usability. This would also be an plugin so other people wouldn't have to see the render button as well. Just me or other people with similar problems.

Image the complete render too menu into a small popup menu, this way handier My addon also has more very useful shortcutd and little extras. You can check it on GitHub, it's named quickswitch
