Hi, Pablo! Is there some news about Viewport Compositor?

Hello Pablo, Thank you for the Stream!

I love Blender from the bottom of my heart. for Two 2 Years, I have now worked as a 3D Artist with Blender [even for Commercial Projects :D]

My Question: Will Blender focus on heavy scene Environments with more than 10 Mil Polys, as of right now I am working on Multiple Projects where I just can't optimize my Workflow anymore, I've tried every optimization technique, baking, retopo, etc. that is known to me but scenes just get unusable when adding too many meshes or textures, whenever the scene gets too heavy...

I also work with a really strong and powerful computer but Blender can't handle scenes with many heavy Objects and Polys like Maya, 3Ds Max, or other 3D Software.

this is very frustrating for me because I don't want to be limited by an Object or Polycount and Blender is the only 3D software that I'd like to use.

Thank you for your time!

I was having a discussion won the blender bob YouTube channel about this. He has made a proxy addon which works super nice. I remembered this sold addon named display tools. This one switches all objects to either line or bounds. The current problem in 2.8 branch is that they took away bounding box mode. You can still do but per object.

I have been testing code of that addon in 2.83 and 2.93 and it switches all object to bounding box when I do 3d view adjustments. I've also asked in a old blender dev thread if they can back the mode so we can do it instantly.

Let me know if you interested in the code. For me a scene with 16 millions was way faster vs using regular blender methods

Here you can see that thread about the bounding box mode devtalk.blender.org/t/about-cycles-in-2-79-and-2-8-and-bound-bounding-box/3154

Almost all addons is added to the N panel, so what about making a, addon tab for all third parts addons, and have a dropdown windows that shows all the names of the addons? Or drawin the text horizontal?

Hey Pablo!

Do you think it would be beneficial to add "Survey" functionality to the Motion Tracking module? Basically, being able to attach known 3D coordinates to 2D trackers prior to solve, either from a photogrammetry scan of the scene, or from previously tracked shots in the same location. This feature is in various other 3D tracking software and is really helpful for aligning multiple shots that were all taken in the same location, or shots that have no parallax and are unsolvable on their own, but could be solved if you fed the software information about the 2D tracker locations.

Cheers! I love watching Blender Today!

Hello, Pablo I hope you are having a great week. I have two questions.

  1. Is there any more news about Eevee Next?

  2. Would there be any time soon more news about light groups in Eevee?

Hi Paolo! How's life in Amsterdam?

Is there any reason why we can't keyframe the visibility of a collection? The only way to do it is to instance it and that makes the outline messy. Cheers!

in this task you can see the state of your request and why its not so easy to implement: developer.blender.org/D12469

With the new hair curve, how to turn off the wire box around it?

Also did you know that blender crashes if the new hair curve is in sculpt mode and no tool is selected and you click anywhere in the 3d space? I did reported it T97774

Hey Pablo,

there are some feature requests which come up pretty regular about getting a simplify (downscaling) option for materials per texture.

This could be done per material

blender.community/c/rightclickselect/E0qg/

or in the texture node:

blender.community/c/rightclickselect/EqN4/

After this feature is already there, but only globally, it should be low hanging fruite to implement it, right?

Hey Pablo! Greetings from Israel hope you're doing well (as always ;)

Is it a lot to ask you to make change the blender forum to dark mode so our eyes doesn't get burned? :)

Thanks

Hi Pablo. Thank you so much for helping get the Mesh: Snap_Utilities_Line addon rotate fixed. It's wonderful being able to draw mesh lines properly for clothes and stuff. Also thank you so much Germano Cavalcante (mano-wii).

Two other things. Can the box select/selection tool be changed so we can select any part of a curve in edit mode? We can only select the edge points and sometimes have to zoom out heaps but when curves are rotated a bit and overlapping work is almost impossible as they can't be selected by stretching out a box. If we could just click the curve it would make selection heaps easier in edit mode.

The other thing is can the increments be shown in perspective mode in the grid overlay with separate colors in the settings for the grid line and increments please? There is just one color for both the increments and grid lines now. In the top view it is sometimes difficult to figure out which line is which when zooming in to work.

Thank you very much.

Regards,

Glen in Japan ^^

When zooming in the colors are more important. When zooming out I think it is okay if the lines disappear. I'd just like to set 2 colors if possible.

Hey Pablo, I have a quick question, if an addon comes with Blender, why is it an addon in the first place? Why couldn't the feature of the addon be integrated in Blender?

Thanks

Some addons like the collection manager is an addon that you don't need by default, and blender will open slower if all addons whas enabled by default

XanzulsCG Author

No, I didn't mean addons should be enabled by default, I meant if an addon comes with Blender then why is it an addon since the code of the addon could be integrated in Blender.

chris12

They are probably just easy to update and fix if they are addons/modules. It's sad some really basic ones are off by default though. I agree some should be turned on by default so Blender is easier to use. I want simpler drawing tools even if it was an addon as well.

luisocherubini

Not all developers who are on top of those are full time and some needs to be maintained, there's an entire process to make sure your addon complies with rules to make sure its included.

new rig update in blender 3.3 Alpha

softyoda

Too bad you can't keyframe resolution... Only noobs use real video as an output, it should be possible to do it for image sequence !

trimonde

Hola Pablo, just a simple question. I want to update Bl 3.0 to Bl 3.3 when stable comes out. ... How can keep all my themes created, add ons and settings. Do I HAVE TO upload a whole new program, or can I just updated the one I have??? Gracias!

nubnubbud

oi, Pablo! are operators/geometry nodes separate enough in the code that a new physics operator will be able to be added in the future by the average c/c++ coder? I would like to try adding to or at least modifying the solvers or nodes we have for physics in Everything Nodes in the future!

When will job section of blender community work ?

martyn1

Ello Pablo! Really love blender! I work as a technical designer in the games industry. I'm curious if the blender team is working with Epic to make improvements on workflow between blender and unreal engine?

Very exciting times we live in! Can't believe how far blender has come over the years! Much love, Martyn!

Hello once again Pablo,

Do you think mesh objects should have an Active Element tab in the Properties Editor just like Metaballs?

Mesh objects have the properties for the currently selected vert/edge/face-edges only available in the sidebar of the 3d viewport.

Metaballs have properties for the currently selected ball in both the sidebar and the properties editor:

I think it would be consistent to have such a tab available for mesh objects also.

Hey Pablo, recently I had a discussion about Platform specific shortcuts. Is there a general convention witch common shortcuts to implement and how to handle it for different platforms

example: File Browser views Windows and Linux: ctrl + scroll wheel Mac OS: cmd + 1,2,3,4 Blender currently: numpad 1

(side discussion from developer.blender.org/D13874 )

Hello again Pablo.

I noticed that very many people making tutorials do not know about the essential "Set Offset from Cursor" feature of Collections.

It would help greatly if it was also in a more logical and easier to find location like the Collection Properties tab.

For anyone wanting to know more about "Set Offset from Cursor" and Collections: blenderartists.org/t/is-there-anything-else-you-should-know-about-collection-instances/1302683

Hey bro. Question. Ever since 2.8, everything that has anything to do with grouping objects together was replaced with collections. Now that Light groups are a thing, why aren't they based on collections like everything else? Wouldn't that be consistent?

The workflow I imagine: You place all your lamps and emissive objects in a collection. You mark that collection as a Light group. And boom, ya have a light group What's the downside of that?

thinsoldier

Helloo Pablo!

Do you ever get annoyed by the editor list closing because you put your mouse in the wrong place too fast?

When this menu is open there should be an even-on-all-sides dead zone so that an inaccurate mouse movement doesn't inadvertently close the menu before you can make your selection.

lucianmldvn

Hi Pablo! Is there any progress on importing alembic arbitrary attributes issue? developer.blender.org/D11591 Will this be available on 3.2 release or only on 3.3? Thanks!

thinsoldier

Hello again. For people with multiple large monitors I think an easy way to open Editors in new windows would be useful. What do you think?

ocular.evolution

Hola Pabz! Hope you're havin' a swell time over there! My question is - why isn't the state of the outliner saved when saving a file? Every time we open a file after starting Blender, all of the collections have their dropdown state as 'active'. This seems like a minor issue, but having to 'deactivate' the dropdown state of all the collections every time a file is opened gets annoying lol. It almost defeats one of the aesthetic importance of having collections - for better organization and reduction of clutter, visually.

Have a great week and weekend! :D

What aboud adding new modes? Retopology mode Cad mode FX mode Clothing mode

Hi Pablo! Thanks for the great work :D

Do you maybe know anything about the current status of simulations in blender?

Thanks, Have a nice day

thinsoldier

Hi Pablo!

Collections pull double duty as both a tool for re-using things and for organizing things whether or not they will be re-used.

To keep such things separate I add a $ to the names of collections intended for reuse as collection instances. This has the added benefit of floating such collections to the top of the "add collection instance" list.

Similarly, groups in the material editor and geometry node editor pull double duty as both a tool for re-using things and for organizing things. The dozens of groups I made just to make the node networks easier to read make it painful to find the 1 node group in my file that I need to re-use, unless I impose some kind of naming convention and stick to it.

There need to be intended for reuse entities in the system that are separate from the organization helper entities .

What do you think?

warcaninos

Hi pablo i would like to ask you what the blender fondation does about addon developper who use blender code that refuse to release their source code and inject drm into their addon.

oljkeee

Hey Pablo. Do you guys have any discussion or plans in HQ about new UI. Couse current UI doesn't fit to grease pencil/painting/sculpting. They need their own UI with different logic. And of course new UI for addons.

mralwiz

How is light linking and Eevee next coming along and will they be done for 3.2?

Hey Pablo! How's your day going?

I was wondering when the geometry nodes editor will be added to the pie menu shortcut.

Thanks!
