The Tweak tool in modeling mode will not allow me to drag more than one point.
I thought it was a bug, but I've been told it wasn't..
It is industry standard to drag select from empty area "automatically- without any shortcuts" and also shift select using the tweak tool, Is there any reason we don't have this standard in Blender ?

@Jorge Zombie
* You don't really get the point - if Blender has the tool, why should they change it to match other softwares? It's just different, press G and you get the same result. There are indeed some industry standards such as a standard features such as the Destructive Extrude operator as there is no tool for that, but Blender is NOT a free copy of Maya or Max. It's a different software powerful enough to make YOU adapt the differences it has. You are the one to adapt a different environment, not the software. If you changed your job, would you blame the company that they don't have lunches inside the house, but you have to go to nearby restaurant? I'd not say so. :-)
And yes, you are new. New to Blender. You might have decades of experience, but if you've never worked with Blender before, it will not be as easy as it used to be with your familiar softwares. After a bit of time though, after yoz find what tool does what, you'll get back on track and then you can fully use your skills gained by years of experience.

@Jorge Zombie
* Looking at the GIF above, there's no extrusion. No need to press E. And this "free" mode is here too. Just press G (or twice, not sure right now). You sound super betrayed and I don't get why. Also, Blender shouldn't adapt to users coming from different softwares. Those are used to something else and that's okay. Understand the reason between a new feature and a changed feature. That's the difference between Pablo Dobarro's work and your proposal. My point with food is fairly simple - if you change your job, you should adapt, not the company.

@Jorge Zombie
* I disagree. It is really handy when you can just tweak the model without changing the tools (at least that's how you described the "industry standard", correct me if I'm wrong). This way, you can either click G to grab, or G and the specify an axis. Or, if you know you're going to move it a lot, click on the move tool on left side and you can move it using gizmo. I personally really like the way it is. It's much more intuitive. And come on, it takes like a milisecond. You'll waste more time with thinking than with this small change. But ask the community, maybe I'm wrong and the G tool is extremely stupid, I dunno. Create a new thread and let's see. I personally like it. :)

Hello Pablo, last time, I posted a question and you said we have to question developers. Here we are :)
Can you explain how Blender simulate light power and the meaning of Watts for lights in Blender ? Is Watt equilavent to a Bulb light, a LED light or an other type of light power ? How can I convert Lumen in Watts unit used in Blender ? I'm aiming to simultate a real scene with lights in Lumen and I'm searching a way to precisely model the scene in Blender. Hi Pablo, some questions:
any updates on the Boolean and Bevel improvements by Howard?
Ensure a correct topoplogy after boolean to support a good bevel operation.
Any news on the status of the Destructive Extrude tool?
will ever be refactored the "not so simple deform" modifier?
It is quite difficult to use the "Bend" deformer cause it assumes the object to be aligned in a certain way to be modified along the desired axis and to respect some others unintuitive rules. In particoular the "limit" option distorts and rotates the object apparently in a non predictable way.

I have question -
Are there any plans to improve the text objects? Even just to be able to animate the text context?

@Josephbburg
* Amber was actually the first proof-of-concept implementation of an Asset Engine; the idea was that people could write their own engine for their own asset system. Another one was Claude, which interfaced with Blender Cloud.
BAT is meant for packaging blend files together with their dependencies (linked-in blend files, textures, and other files) so that they can be sent to the render farm. It's quite a different beast than asset management inside Blender itself.

Question for Dr. Sybren:
What potential does Blender's armature system have for optimization (in general).
More specifically: I've noticed that drawing and selecting bones becomes progressively slower as the number of bones in an armature increases. The o(n^2) time of looking up bones/children is also a choke-point in many of my Python scripts. So I was wondering why this is?

Why viewport animation is set as maximum up to 30fps? 60fps can't be reached in 2.8 and above. What happens with real-time interaction goal.
I hope 60fps soon will be possible again.
Can you discuss with Blender Developer Team why current blender DRIVER data cannot be translated --- exported and properly translated to Unity of Unreal with their constrains? This will be really applicable to any pre-development process with Blender to all?

Hey Pablo, and BlendDevs. My question, waay back in 2006, 2.47 or 8, there was a project called Blender Verse, using the Verse protocol that work and was shipped briefly in one of those builds. It allowed multiple blenders to be connected to a server and edit data live together. This would be great for a team working remote, where one person could work on models, another working on materials, lighting... all working in the same project together. It was demonstrated at Blender Con 2006 by Eskil Steenberg. Could we get this in Blender 3 or 4, or in the future?

The main feature in a nutshell (the proposal is too long for live Q&A):
Pressure Sensitive Sliders & Manipulators
More pressure means more rapid change, but if you press gently, you can fine tune any value slider (and tool manipulator, color picker/ball, timeline). The analogue version of the Shift modifier:
[pressure] * [movement of the pen] = [value change]
This feature makes the UX more organic and effective.
A variant for mouse users (a'la Fabric Engine, Y coord. is the multiplier) could be also nice.
It would be great if you could ask tablet users to check&comment this proposal, thank you.

Is it possibile to do in blender something simmilar to Maya's or Houdini's attribute transfer by UV? For example 2 meshes have matching uv, but position of vertecies in 3D space is diffrent. Why don't we create a modifier version so when you assign a modifier is assigns the modifier version to it so you can update the code for the modifier and it will give the user the option to upgrade to the newest version.
By default, blender will only ship the newest versions but if blender detects an older version then it will download that version and use it. Once your blender pulls that code it caches it so you only have to pull it once and it give the user the ability to work offline at that point.

Hey everyone, I wonder about this Grease Pencil issue, I've struggled with: I 've build a scene in the Layout Workspace, did some camera animation etc. Then I wanted to paint on the buildings with Grease Pencil but it behaves not like it did in other Grease Pencil works I did before.
I could draw but when I wanted to sculpt the stroke, I couldn't set the strength there was no slider and nothing happend (2.83) in 2.82 there were strength and radius sliders but all were set to 0 (I could adjust them) but only the marker brush works. I moved to the 2D Animation and to the 2D Full Canvas Workspace but there was no difference.
I started blender again and choose in the splash screen the 2D Animation file option and in the new file 2.82 and 2.83 Grease Pencil works perfect.
Then I append a building from the scene I made before and now everything worked as aspected.
It seems that the starting Workspace has to be the 2D Animation Workspace, so that Grease Pencil can work properly? Or am I doing something wrong?
Why does it behave like this?
Thanks so much for Blender Everyday, it's my daily highlight!

In life we have limited resources. So does blender limited funds, time or developers. How can the blender team stay relevant by making sure that priority is set on key features that users want? I loved how in 2019 Blender conference we were able to vote on key features that we desperately need in blender (Multi-layer texture editing & Compositing). * @Jorge Zombie * You just stated that yourself. "Chances are that someone would like that".. yeah, someone. Worth changing it to it? No. And what's not wrong with Pablo Dobarro's stuff? Because he's adding stuff that's not here, something absolutely new. But go ahead and make a proposal. I actually want to see if anyone is interested in that. I'm also not saying that you want Blender to become "free Maya", I'm saying that Blender isn't "free Maya". That's a difference. Again. Was there a cloth brush before? No, so it's good it's added. Is there what you're suggesting? Yes, so why it should be changed to fit YOU better, when everyone else is totally fine with it?
* @Jorge Zombie * I don't get how you don't see the difference between NEW feature and a CHANGE of already EXISTING feature. You still didn't make the proposal, go ahead and make it.
* @Jorge Zombie * Just Ignore Them, whoever makes it NOT-SO-FUN.... What can I even say except for that....
(I am just Another Noob who started just this year....)
* @Amitrakshar Biszz * Who asked you? Can you please stop interrupting our discussion just because you're against me, because of that Asset Manager thing? I'd highly appreciate that. You're starting to piss me off.
* @ Vyacheslav @Drax * Blender it's a religion for you !!! Why are you downloading new versions at all? Not written in 1st will of Blender on the Amiga 500 ;-) Don't be so conservative, Blender is actually using adding/changing to this method of selection in other parts of the program... I don't request to remove your shortcuts, these two methods can go hand-in-hand without any problem, World Peace
Hello Pablo, last time, I posted a question and you said we have to question developers. Here we are :)
I checked and found nothing about the meaning of Watt for light power used in Blender (just "Power of the light in Watts. Higher values increase the intensity of the light."). docs.blender.org/manual/en/latest/render/lights/light_object.html
Can you explain how Blender simulate light power and the meaning of Watts for lights in Blender ? Is Watt equilavent to a Bulb light, a LED light or an other type of light power ? How can I convert Lumen in Watts unit used in Blender ? I'm aiming to simultate a real scene with lights in Lumen and I'm searching a way to precisely model the scene in Blender. Thanks :){attachment c79756a6a1c143b386eeb2a84e9c420e-ljpg}
* @XDroid * Yet, Another Awesome Question.... I was just gonna ask it.... HEHE
Hi Pablo what about destructive extrude like sketchup ?
Hello, Sybren have you looked into physical based animation like Cascadeur is doing it? There is a lot of work to be done for the exporters and animations part but would that be something to be considered to work on?
** Boolean + Bevel
Hi Pablo, some questions:
Ensure a correct topoplogy after boolean to support a good bevel operation.
Any news on the status of the Destructive Extrude tool?
will ever be refactored the "not so simple deform" modifier?
It is quite difficult to use the "Bend" deformer cause it assumes the object to be aligned in a certain way to be modified along the desired axis and to respect some others unintuitive rules. In particoular the "limit" option distorts and rotates the object apparently in a non predictable way.
Hi, for modeling there is 2 important to speed up modeling,missing in blender which I already talk about it in right click : first:
blender.community/c/rightclickselect/1tcbbc/
to select vertex edge face from behind all software give you choice to enable this. but in blender each time I need to use xray to select behind. most my modeling I never use this. Second :
blender.community/c/rightclickselect/gvcbbc/
Option for " Prevent Negative Scale" thank
* @klo-works * Hi. Here are some addons that might help:

Are there plans to add the ability to draw primitives in the viewport?
* @Qwerty * Hi. Whay do you mean by "draw" primitives ?
Is this what you want?
blender-addons.org/wonder-mesh-addon/

Hello and thank you for all your great work! I have question - Are there any plans to improve the text objects? Even just to be able to animate the text context? I know we can do this with Animation Nodes but this is hacky and crashes alot. Just the ability to key or drive the text itself will be a great improvement!
Hi Pablo, In which version of blender we will get the animation nodes being officially launched?
* @Shridhar Nagabhushan * You mean everything nodes?
* @Shridhar Nagabhushan * In none of them. It will stay as an addon. The dev is working on official implementations of Particle nodes.
* @Lapis Sea * I think He meant Only Animation Nodes.... Everything Nodes is kinda Different From Animation Nodes.... But It's The Same guy behind those Jacques Lucke....
Can we expect the Asset Manager later this year or 2021?
***@Drax *** It's Called BAT (BLENDER ASSET TRACER) now.... 🙃🙃🙃🙃
* @Amitrakshar Biszz * A) Why are you so salty? B) According to blog post by Dalai Felinto- he called it Asset Manager (pretty sure you're not going to say you're adding assets into bLeNdEr AsSeT tRaCeR ) B) Task T73366 "Asset Manager "Basics" ". :-)
***@Drax *** Sorry.... 😑
***@Drax *** BAT is something else, it's the current state of asset management in the Blender Animation studio, to get around the fact that Blender can't do it by itself. So the Asset Manager is something else! It was planned to be called "Amber" at one point.
* @Josephbburg * Amber was actually the first proof-of-concept implementation of an Asset Engine; the idea was that people could write their own engine for their own asset system. Another one was Claude, which interfaced with Blender Cloud.
BAT is meant for packaging blend files together with their dependencies (linked-in blend files, textures, and other files) so that they can be sent to the render farm. It's quite a different beast than asset management inside Blender itself.
Hi pablo, some questions: -Will there be a MPM simulation engine? Maybe somthing like disney Matterhorn. What about snow simulation?
-Are there any plans for animation denoising?
-And will there be some performance improvements on dyntopo?
* @mohammadhosein.ghad * Pablo Dobarro spole about Dyntopo performance a few days ago on the Sculpt Stream
* @mohammadhosein.ghad * I like the show but this episode was not great and the response to your animation denoising question was lousy. One of the guests seemed to be pulling answers out of his you know what on a few occasions (e.g. lamps). In this case he just went off on some tangent about motion capture and didn't say a thing about animation (or temporal) denoising. Unfortunately I don't have any hot off the presses news but I remember around 2.81 hearing that Brecht had added or implemented temporal denoising for cycles but it only works from the command line . ... Okay I just found a mention of it: reddit.com/r/blender/comments/e4xmr7/how_to_denoise_an_animation_in_281 . (I never got around to trying it.)
Thankyou devs for all your work! I have 2 questions : 1> Is Light Path Expressions for custom AOVs in the planning? the one which Ubisoft had been discussing ( devtalk.blender.org/t/light-path-expressions-for-custom-aovs/9193/19 )
2> Currently we cant modify shapekeys on top of alembic cache. It comes in handy when manipulating cloth sims for eg. Would it be a good idea to have shape keys as modifier?
Thankyou! ^^
* @netricsa * Shape keys as modifiers in world/local/tangent space, and different deformation blend modes would be nice .
Everything nodes?
What's the news on animation 2020 and the improvements of blender animation tools? (Also I might get blocked for spam now) please I beg you look to Cascedeur physics based animation for guidance on how to develop the tools, they said they'd be meore than happy to work with blender
Thanks!
Hi! We have optix viewport denosing but none for people with non RTX cards. What is stopping blender from using the intel denoiser in the viewport?
* @Lapis Sea * GTX cards can emulate now viewport denoise, developer.blender.org/rB58ea0d93f193adf84162d736c3c69500584e1aef
Keep in mind it's experimental.
Hi guys! Light linking has been on the cycles road map for a while, I was wondering how this is going, who is working on it, and when we might be able to expect a release? This feature is something I really miss, it's so tough to give things rim lights in larger scenes without a ton of compositing >.<
Well, You people are Really Awesome..... Thanks To All of you for Developing BLENDER!!!!
Things like deformation Physics, (eg:- A Bike Suspension deforming) people tend to do that with Animation Nodes... Is there any way around to do Such Deformation Simulation with Physics? (I didn't found tho, So If not possible, Then Any Chance If it's gonna Come to Blender?)
Around When Will Everything Nodes Arrive? Any Other News on that?
Pablo hello! Stay safe guys. Two questions:
I hope 60fps soon will be possible again.
Best
I miss the color picker option in node editor. Color picker from img/texture.
Hey Blender team! THANK YOU! Could you add camera matrix exporting to the exr output? This way camera transforms are saved in the files and are able to be extracted in software like Nuke
-Are you going to addOcclusion Culling for Eevee ?? -when do you fix the playback of image sequence on viewport? Cheers from ARGENTINA!!!
Hi guys, here is a UI/UX proposal:
StylusUI - pressure sensitive & pen-optimized interface elements & tools
The main feature in a nutshell (the proposal is too long for live Q&A):
Pressure Sensitive Sliders & Manipulators
More pressure means more rapid change, but if you press gently, you can fine tune any value slider (and tool manipulator, color picker/ball, timeline). The analogue version of the Shift modifier:
[pressure] * [movement of the pen] = [value change]This feature makes the UX more organic and effective. A variant for mouse users (a'la Fabric Engine, Y coord. is the multiplier) could be also nice.
It would be great if you could ask tablet users to check&comment this proposal, thank you. How difficult is to implement this feature?
Hi! Thank you for everyday content :3
Is it possibile to do in blender something simmilar to Maya's or Houdini's attribute transfer by UV? For example 2 meshes have matching uv, but position of vertecies in 3D space is diffrent. So by transfering position attribute by UVMap I can match vertiecies position. It's usefull in retopo of clothing from Marvelous designer. And for now Im using houdini to do it, but would be nice to just use Blender.
Thanks!
Hey Pablo, is it possible to Add a "Mask Nodes"-Section to the Node Editor? It would mostly include the existing Nodes and it would Generate a Black and white Mask from the Nodes. This would help to generate Procedural Masks and would incredibly speed up the VFX / Video Editing workflow.
Hi! I'm developing an addon that adds an upper full-width bar, and it overlaps with the toolshelf. I already found the file where the navigation gizmo's position is defined, but I can't find where is define the toolshelf's position. Can you help me?
* @gstardev * Hi. I am intrigued by your idea/addon.
Would you accept to share a screenshot of it ?
Is your upper toolbar similar to the one that is available in the BforArtists project ? bforartists.de/
What would be the utility of your upper toolbar? Would it be customizable? Would the user be able to add its own commands and icons ?
Hi! I was wondering... are there any plans on developing a simple way to export a proper antialiased depth pass in Blender? Nowadays you need several nodes and a mist pass to get something that kinda works ( z pass is not anti aliased). Thanks!
motion graphics in blender is tricky in blender when will we get a proper tool like mograph
Is it possible to add voxel remesh as a modifier?
* @rpserge * There was a Talk about VR Sculpting in "SCULPTING SPECIAL | BLENDER Everyday #3"...... It was About VOXELS... They Answered it At some point of the stream.... Maybe their answer might help
Voxel Sculpting
About different versions of modifiers.
-Are you going to addOcclusion Culling for Eevee ?? -when do you fix the playback of image sequence on viewport? Cheers from ARGENTINA!!!
Nvidia is sponsor of Blender will there be any chance on Nvidia-PhysX. Live physics and Eevee could be so awesome
hey when we'll we here what the "targets" for animation 2020 are?, i remember you guys mentioned that the anim team from the blender studio did a presentation talking about what they needed, I'd love to see such presentation no matter if not everything gets implemented but to understand the alignment to where they are looking for it to go to.
Hi Pablo!
Will OptiX get update to support GTX 16 series
* @bayu prasetyo * developer.blender.org/rB58ea0d93f193adf84162d736c3c69500584e1aef
* @CansecoGPC * how to setup/ try it?
Will 2.8's Weightpaint mode be improved? it's so hard to see , it's visually worse than 2.79 which was just Press Wireframe mode and See flat shade with everything easy
in 2.8 it takes too many steps to arrive to a worse point
* @virtualanubismaster * CIT on youtube chat "Dixie_rekdoh" wait @AnubisAlex I see what you mean now, xray and weightpaint do NOT work together AT ALL..... this is terrible "Dixie_rekdI" never knew this but its super annoying now
Hi Pablo!
it would be super awsome if the color palettes could be accessible in the shader nodes. is there any chance this is going to be implemented?
thanks, love your videos.
when will get a morgraph for blender animation nodes doesnt install on my blender , even if i try latest builds
How does testing work? Is there automation testing like unit tests, UI tests and what are they written in? Is this an easy place for your first pull request to make the code more stable?
hey guys, nice to have you on the live stream! nice job!
I was wondering... is there an offline/downloadable version of the api documentation?
* @Armando Tello * I suppose you could clone the git repo that builds the docs and build them on your own machine.
Will dupliframes (ie. instancing>frames) ever return to Blender?
Hi again, what can you tell us about the plans for deeper USD implementation that was hinted at? I understand it might actually replace the blender data backend entirely?
* @michael.campbell *
No, they're too different. That's just a rumor.
-Are you going to addOcclusion Culling for Eevee ?? -when do you fix the playback of image sequence on viewport? Cheers from ARGENTINA!!!
Hi Pablo .Thank You for all your great work. Question : what stage is new Boolean modifier and can it be done in this year?
feature request: Is it possible to create Dyntopo like modifier remesher to triangulate whole object and with vertex group selection . Why ? for quick fix for 3d print,
Thanks.
I notice Pablo has been adding a lot of multithreading support for sculpting. I was wondering what other areas of blender might be soon benefiting from multithreading, or even better still gpu acceleration? In particular i'd love to see physics get gpu accelration so we might get somewhere close to embergen performance (although obviously that has additional magic going on under the hood besides gpu acceleration)
Is there a way the community can vote online for what we really need so that Blender stays relevant by listening to its users? NB The voting page should be easy clear and have little clutter.
* @joekim * this website...?
-Are you going to addOcclusion Culling for Eevee ?? -when do you fix the playback of image sequence on viewport? Cheers from ARGENTINA!!!
Can we have an option for wireframe only on selected objects? What about backface selection without having to switch to wireframe/xray?
Hi, I've written an addon which automates material creation, and I was planning to make further improvements, but wondered if you could tell me if the method of creating materials, nodes, and links with python is going to change, and if so when do you expect this will happen? I'll wait a bit to release it if so.
Second question, what plans are there to make the text editor function more like a full an IDE such as vs code? autocomplete, function/class popup tips etc.
Hey guys! 3 questions: Are you thinking of adding a proper geometry wrap modifier? The mesh deform it is a bit slow and it doesn't work all the time and it is slow...
About the mesh deform, do you guys think it will be possible to add the option that when the precision is set to 0 it binds only the vertex that are in exactly the same position? Aaaaaand would it be possible to have a binding using the UV sets as sample space?
Third one is about the topological symmetry. Would it be possible to expose the vertices ID correspondence in the pyhton API?
Thank you!
Questino to Sybren : do you know when we could import custom attribut with Alembic ? and will USD have it ?
* @Nizar Amous * Subscribe to developer.blender.org/T73363 to get updates on that.
hello pablo, my question is about snaping (edge loop, when scale, rotation ..) is any implementation plan
Hey Pablo, you asked us to suggest topics for Blender Everydays, here is mine: UI / UX
While you're a Blender UI master and the tablet is there on your desk, here is my proposal:
* @SciVfx (xilofoton) * I think umm.... In such way.... Performance will drop... Because Umm Your Computer will then constantly Need to calculate out the pressure after you have completed a line....
Hi pablo i am really happy about blender future its insane, I have question if we can have caching playback/animation in the future its gonna help alot of people who dont have powerful pc
Hello hope you are happy and 'healthy'. What if any ide software does the core dev team use to develop blender? Communication, sending code snippets back and forth then eventually to the master. Like visual studio, or other. Probably open source??
Why we can't set the vertex position upper than 10000 units in edit mode ? We can move an objet anywhere (in objet mode) but if I try to manually edit a vertex coordinate upper than 10000, I can't. Is there a Blender limitation and why ?{attachment Annotation_2020-03-27_160040png}
