Hi! I would like to know the status of the Destructive Extrude tool - it looks like all the code is there, maybe no one has gone to review it? This would be so handy for architecture and hard surface developer.blender.org/D5336

Hi Pablo!

Just a request. Please stop responding to criticisms of modeling, UV, etc. like "Modeling in a blender (or UV or whatever) is already great."

I understand that this is a joke, but it breaks my hope of seeing really good modeling in Blender )).

And thanks for the really awesome work you do!

hello Pablo , I'm a houdini user , I know c++ and I wanted to create addon for blender , but there's no c++ API documentation for blender , someone told me in blender devtalk forums that you sould build the doc but it's not good method , i encountred some problems to build that doc . it so bad new developer can't create addon for blender in term of lacking of api documentation

Hello!
Are you planning to refine the pipeline in terms of UX? How much priority is modeling improvement now?

Many operations require extra actions (button presses, adding modifiers, creating vertex groups, etc.) This creates inconvenience and wastes time. Many tools still have really old bugs that are not fixed.

Right-Click Select is full of great ideas, but it doesn't seem like anyone is trying to implement it.

* @borschberry * extra actions, for example when you want to insert a curve and a strange mustache appear on the screen and you have to delete it or change it in someway to resemble it in a start position... or whe you want to insert a new control point with a simple point&click but you have necessarily select two other control point, then open the menu , select "subdivide" ecc.

* @Mille Porte * I feel your pain )))

Hi, Pablo, I think I will finally be able to watch the live show.

I have some questions: Is there an update on it? I follow Howard and haven't seen many updates.

Will the subsurface modifier ever use the GPU power?

Can we have MasterXeon in the blender today someday?

Mille_Porte

* @rogerpineda1314 * he's a legend, but surely worth to be mentioned Cedric Lepiller and its Speedflow..

How are the nodes going to work in terms of modelling?

***@Drax *** OMG.... Then it's Gonna be Helluva' Awesome....

14arianuddin

***@Drax *** The developer is still working on the particle nodes project.

* @14arianuddin * I know, but I'm interested in the system/plans, because that's something I can't really imagine - modelling using tools. :-)

Hola Pablo!

How will Modeling/Sculpting work with Everything Nodes? I've been picturing in my head Blender generating Nodes for each time a brush or tool is used, which could be manipulated after.

Also, any news or advancement on the Asset Library Proposal? I'm psyched for its procedural creating capabilities.

Hi Pablo and the Gang. I was wondering if the guests think it might be useful to add vertex creases so that sharp edges can be more easily avoided when using subdiv modelling like below:

hola pablo,Just wanted to Ask you to poke brecht about vector displacment baking

I need that vdm brush in my life, thanx

Thanks for the show! I'm very surprised that no one has named the Fluent addon in this Stream.

does blender have an official online rendering farm that we can join ? and if not than - what is the best online rendering farm site for blender users ?

1
parkeramitrakshar Author

* @avibaron78 * Not Official, But I saw a lot of Artists Saying they use Garage Farm.... Go search the Internet for a bit.... Some Render Farms Even Give you Free Trail before you Get started

Hi Pablo, and dear guests! For the hard-surface modelling, and procedural modelling, I think it would be a good idea to have 'bisect modifier' and 'fill holes modifier'. What do you think?

Hi!

I would kindly request surfaces and curves to be reworked, so that NURBS Modeling would become possible in Blender as well.

Little to none has been changed in this field for a while, but with Blender workflow, it could easily become an alternative to Rhino/Autodesk Alias. Especially if

I hope you can do it. Same as the Sculpt mode is getting closer and closer to ZBrush.

** New Modifier and Extrude Tools

Hi Pablo, I do a premise:

when we talk about Hard Surface modeling (HS) we are talking about a modeling tecnique mainly based on boolean and bevel operation in a non-destructive way.. I mean a tecnique that may use, but is not based on, subsurf.

Based on that, the most important feature: ensure a correct topoplogy after boolean to support a good bevel operation. Some other tools modeling are still needed for a nice design/CAD/archiviz experience, here is some of them (in my opinion):

  • extrude along a path (use curves inside a polygon editing session)
  • loft/birail modifier (pure sci-fi..)
  • implement construction history (if the object topology doesn't change its history should not disapper)
  • edge group: they are essential to make more versatile the bevel modifier

So much for GreasePencil and scuplting but sadly, even in project 2020, nothing about a revamp of modeling in Blender is mentioned.

Hi guys. Can't wait for this one.

I Have a question regarding poly build tool when i retopologize something i apply shrinkwrap modifier and enable cage and sometimes when it highlights it doesn't line up with the edges and vertices it is sometimes irritating is this a bug

Hi! Will blender have an option for photorealistic lens flare? Or could blender have a feature, where you can just add a sensor and design lens around it?

MickHanks

I want Array Groups

parkeramitrakshar Author

* @othoap * Maybe You can Try making Instances of Group.... That instance can be mirrored...... then you can have instanced duplicates if you use Dupligroups.

Rachel when u started modelling what did u do (study/practice) to get as good as u are now?

jmguevara

Hello, your work is impressive. Do you usually work with radial symmetry? It is a little complicated to use

Hi, for modeling there is 2 important to speed up modeling, missing in blender which I already talk about it in right click : first:

blender.community/c/rightclickselect/1tcbbc/

to select vertex edge face from behind all software give you choice to enable this. but in blender each time I need to use xray to select behind. most my modeling I never use this. Second :

blender.community/c/rightclickselect/gvcbbc/

Option for " Prevent Negative Scale" thanks

DesignFreedom

Hello Pablo and the guests Rachel, Gleb, Aidy! First of all thanks a lot to Blender people for this incredible artistic tool! It's mind-blowing that you're able to keep it free and open-source!

Here's the question to Pablo: are there any real plans to improve the surface modeling tools and techniques related to nurbs?

And here is the question to the Guests: what would you recommend as a Blender alternative to such nurbs modeling techniques as loft through multiple profiles, sweep on multiple rails and patch the network of curves?

Thank you!

xalener

what is it about the surname "Frick" that makes folks into an absolute monster at hardsurface modeling? -in reference to Rachel Frick and Tor Frick-

Also, I'm not sure how deeply this intersects with modeling, but I've been really wanting easier methods to manage naming conventions in scenes with a massive amount of objects. The ability to rename hundreds of objects and organize them with a sequencial suffix or prefix of my own choosing would be suuper useful. I know there's Batch Rename, but I'm not sure if there's a way to add unique sequenced bits to the names in the same stroke.

Hi Pablo! I was wondering, when using the bevel modifier on a complex mesh, why does the "clamp" option clamps all the edges of the mesh instead of only the edges that need to be clamped? Wouldn't that be more useful, especially for hard surface modeling?

nalinbro28

Will there be more nodes added like bevel node

Karric

Some ideas for future shows:

• RCS Review — Users post links to RCS proposals they like in the community video thread, you review and comment (with Dalai?).

• Live Tutorial — We watch you create something simple, and you explain/field questions in the live chat as you go.

• CC-Cornucopia — Show off great CC resources for blender users and encourage people to contribute.

• GraphicAll — Show off the amazing branches, what they can do, maybe interview the maintainers.

Hi Pablo, what can we expect about curves related workflows? Things like duplicating objects along paths without mesh distort (in curve modifier), spline normalization (generation of equidistant vertices), better visualization for control elements. Thanks!

gabriele9304

Thank you Pablo for your streams! I have a few general questions for the guests!

  1. What your startup blender file looks like? Did you make some changes to make your job easier from the start (3D viewport, compositor, render passes, nodes ecc.) ?

  2. Do you use the poor default cube? How many times it is deleted and how many times it is transformed into one of your awesome models? :D

  3. Do you struggle (now or in the past) to take your projects from start to finish, without jumping into "the next thing"? Do you have any advice or habit that helped you become a more efficent 3D artist?

  4. What do you think is one of the most common mistake/neglect that intermidiate artist do that prevent them to take their work to the next level?

  5. What feature would you be excited to see coming into blender in the future?
