Hi! I have a question about the subdivide modifier. Now Blender uses its own algorithm, not the same as the rest of the industry. That gives results not the same as in other programs (compatibility issue). Sometimes the differences are barely noticeable, sometimes significant. For me, the problem is most acute in modeling. Details and a lot of pictures here ( blender.community/c/rightclickselect/b7fbbc/ ) and here ( devtalk.blender.org/t/subdivision-behaviour-is-different-than-in-any-other-software-causing-compatibility-issues/13032 ) I opened the bug report, but it was closed as invalid ( developer.blender.org/T76457 ) It would be great to hear the developer's opinion on this situation. And the question is: is it worth waiting for the return of the standard algorithm to the blender (at least as a mesh tool) And most importantly, thank you so much for the work you have done, keep it up!

Hi! My second question for today. I recently opened a bug-report about the unpredictable (at least for me) behavior of Blender when multiple selections are made ( developer.blender.org/T76762 ). It was closed as an invalid. (maybe I just don't understand the logic of Blender in this) Earlier I opened a bug-report about the disappearing hotkey preference menu ( developer.blender.org/T75616 ). It was also closed, but this time with a comment "non-trivial task". I can't understand how the fact that the task is difficult can be the reason for closing the bug-report, but ok. I would like to know what is considered a bug from the developer's point of view. At least in order not to create unnecessary bug reports. Sorry if this looks like criticism, this is not what I meant. You've done an amazing job, but apparently the more we get, the more we want) Thank you so much, guys!

* @borschberry * It's pretty simple, really. Neither of the submissions identify actual bugs. Even if you don't understand or don't like the behaviors you described the fact remains that there is no deviation from expected behavior. And since that system is not to be used for enhancement or feature requests from the public there was no other choice but to close your reports.

* @blender123 * Thank you for your answer, but it doesn't get any clearer. I understand the concept, but I would like to know the specific rules.

reanimate

Going to ask here again since it was skipped in the live chat. Any chance to get "Smart Bake" Action for NLA? Basically only bake available keyframe into one layer, not bake every (Nth) frame

* @reanimate * while you wait for the in-house solution :

sybren

* @reanimate * I think that wouldn't be too hard to do :)

reanimate

* @bernou.samuel * Actually this addon are what make want to ask for built in solution :D

bernou.samuel

* @reanimate * +1, even more when the only community workaround available is a paid solution (not that I am against paying for the work done).

Hey everyone hope you are having a good day! I ran into an issue with the shadow catcher a while back and after doing some research I found out what the problem was. It seems that the shadow catcher in Cycles is not working correctly like other render engines. Someone wrote a big blog post about it here. devtalk.blender.org/t/lets-finally-fix-the-shadowcatcher/691 Do you think the shadow catcher could be fixed in future versions? Thanks!

I found an error in rendering the blender. When you render pure black everything looks fine, but when you put pure black rendering into gimp or photoshop and turn up the contrast, you will see that black has a lot of noise. Everything is okay in the 2.79 blender, this bug is more than 2.79 in every version of the blender.

* @marioneverforever * Try reducing dithering to 0. It's in Properties panel>Output>Post Processing

Hi guys, When can we expect the UI/UX special? You might remember, I made proposal for pressure sensitive sliders ...

Probably this was talked before, but what about Asset Manager? Also, what are the benefits of having it? I don't understand much about that subject. Is it something related to massive productions or anything else? Obrigado :]

Hi, do you know what the Attribute node does? I keep seeing it in projects and node groups with different values, but I can't find out where that value come from or what it does.

Hi, Pablo. Do you have any proposals about Force Fields ( including metaballs) for forcing simulations like in Realflow and etc.?

Hey, Pablo, thanks for answering me :D I have another question: When will animation layers be implemented to Blender? This is something that really lacks on Blender currently.

Great work guys in keeping blender running. Do we have plans of having a true physical skylight system in Blender like Redshift and Octane? or does it already includes something like that and I am just unaware of it? Enlighten me Thanks for answering

Hi Pablo and Dalay great to have you!, My question is about viewport display color, is there a way to get the viewport color based on the shader's color pick? I know It get's tricky when we have complex node groups, but I think that it could be a link to the color in order to select it. Thanks for your time guys!
