Hey Pablo, hope you are having a great day.

First of all, massive thanks to the developers for the constant updates and improving Blender every day, and for that, we can’t be thankful enough. And can’t wait for the upcoming features like node-based particle systems and physics. But also in my humble opinion, underlying core problems and missing features should get attention and improvements in the future as well. (Really appreciate the mesh editing optimizations)

  • For example, working with high res PBR textures. I hope it’s just not me or my PC, but working with high res textures makes blender is very unstable and it goes to “not responding” mode frequently and when I have all maps connected it straight up takes 16GB ram in my PC. So, will working with high res PBR textures get improvements and maybe get better optimization in the future (like maybe creating proxy textures). Don’t rush guys, take your time to polish the tools and nail it.

  • And, Groups. At this point, I’ve seen at least 100s of people complaining about the lack of groups and some weirdness of Blender’s hierarchy. Please for god's sake put groups in Blender. It might not be a big deal for people who don’t really go outside Blender but It’s almost a deal-breaker (sometimes is) for pros switching to blender. There are workarounds but it doesn’t translate well to other programs and doesn’t have all the functionalities as the grouping of the “industry standard” software has and those are really necessary. Sometimes artists just have to use other software just so things work well down the line. And the artist I’m talking about is this guy – artstation.com/artwork/mqBmXy (and yes, he made this transformer in the movie).

Massive thanks for everything man! Can’t wait for the future!

Hola!

just another shameless RCS plug :)

regarding the current node workshop, I've made a proposal that aims to make working with attributes more intuitive

Feedback from anyone is very welcome!

Hey Pablo :)

Any chances of getting started on a retopology mode in the near future. Even just a few basic things would go a long way:)

Hi, Sybren, is it already possible to call assets which are collections with drivers inside? Example where it is needed: blendswap.com/blend/27143

Hey Pablo,

Happy Monday! I don't know if the Blender institute is aware of Nvidia's physics engine "Physx" went open source a couple of years ago. Can we expect Blender to upgrate to this physics engine for the solvers in geometry nodes?

Hi Pablo!

I wonder (performance question):

Why is that when we playback an .fbx animation imported on blender the framerate is SO slow? Even though is the same animation that before exporting (from blender) it was playing back just fine?

(I wonder that because in an game engine like Unreal you can have hundreds of complex .fbx running at a time with no performance loss)

Thanks!

Hi Pablo! :)

I would love it if you could spend a moment to point out Kevin Dietrich's work on getting OpenSubdiv GPU accelerated!

He has a thread on blenderartists with some lovely progress and I'd love it if some more people knew about it and took part in testing and giving feedback. I'm certain you can help with that. ;)

You can find the thread here: blenderartists.org/t/blender-3-0-opensubdiv-development/1311217

All the best,

JW

Any news on Asset Pipeline project? Everyone's waiting for new texture painting n stuff

Hey Pablo, happy Monday! (I'm writing this twice because I don't know which question of mine you'll get to first lol)

Is there any chance that two-way coupling could get implemented for physics in the future?

Thanks for doing this awesome show!

Hey Pablo, happy Monday!

I'm curious if you have any thoughts about my RCS proposal for a possible design for the multi-type input socket for geometry nodes? (most of the length is from the further reading section; you don't have to read through all that of course.) blender.community/c/rightclickselect/NLZv/

Thanks for doing this awesome show!
