Tabable Editors

I promise i looked for this everywhere online, i even asked Co-Pilot but when i told it i was using blender 4.2 it called me a liar and said that blender is currently at 2.83, anyway, I was in the middle of designing a theme, and i thought, what if you could tab the editors, Krita does it and it makes sense that blender should have tabable editors, the ability to have multiple editors in one editor makes sense. i set up a layout in krita to show what i mean TABABLE EDITORS 02.JPG

i know, it looks really ugly, but, if you look closely there are 4 windows and 11 tabs, if my math is correct thats 44 windows of your choosing available at all times.

TABABLE EDITORS 03.JPG

as i said I have looked for it but cant see a way to tab the editors, if im missing how to do it let me know if there isnt, shouldnt there be?

It is being tackled: projects.blender.org/blender/blender/issues/117954

BUT, they'll work on it only after this other feature, which is currently being tested, gets implemented: devtalk.blender.org/t/interactive-editor-docking-is-now-experimental/35800

Just so you know that it's on their radar.

And here we are in 2024, do you think maybe the Devs don't get what a massive plus that would be for Blender.

Just not enough money to keep enough devs to get everything done - main targets are in the works and everything is as it is triaged. Influx of new users coming from other software doesn't necessarily equate more money coming into the Blender Foundation unfortunately. There is so much being done now and so much that has been done - but some things will have to wait until the current targets are met.
