Pin modifier to bottom of stack

Now with the new 'Geo Smooth by Angle' (and not only bcs of this) – it would be convenient to have a 'Pin to bottom' option.

If multiple modifiers are pinned, they'll keep their individual order.

I wish they put the auto smooth back to object data. Anyway, in addition to what you say, it would be more than nice to have arrows on the header of the modifier to move it up and down the stack. Drag and drop reordering is so strange, no other software does that visually like that.

Most software let you drag list of things to order them.

Blender used to have arrows, it was slow, you had to spam a button to move modifiers and constraints more than one level, and it was cluttering the UIm

Like i said, I don't like the way it is done visually, I didn't say such option is unique to Blender. It simply looks strange, you are dragging a semitransparent panel. I don't mind if there is a drag and drop reordering, but it is visually not good - IMO. Up and down buttons would be useful too, as you don't have to fiddle with hitting right location when you release the mouse button.

It is hard for me to believe that the bright minds that handle Blender opted to take this route with 4.1 and made people's day to day workflows harder. When people start distributing addons that bring the old behavior back, that should give you a clear message as to the mistake you made. I completely second this idea, as I know from experience that once Blender's dev team takes a step, it can hardly ever be undone. Then it becomes even more imperative to hard code an option to keep a modifier at the end or at the beginning of a stack and this shouldn't have to wait till 4.2. I'm getting the impression that you are beginning to hear your voices louder than that of the community's and that's not a good sign...

To complement this, a visual indicator of this state could be a color change of the modifier panel (bacground inside the blue frame) even when it's collapsed and deselected. Or a pin icon on top of the modifier icon.
