I wanted to ask if we can please get the ability to shift + a in the Shader & Geometry Nodes Editor to search for the Math Operations itself, instead of always adding a Math Node and then changing it to the needed math operation
Example: Shift + a + s -> Fraction
Instead of : Shift + a + s -> Math -> Searching for Fraction setting
Thank you!

Hi Pablo, Will it be possible to combine the composer and the scene from VSE? for example, so that in the composer it would be possible to add a scene node and all changes would immediately be displayed in VSE?

What about a "nodes modifier" for strips?

oh i mean strip node

I was thinking the other way around, you add a vse nodes tree to a strip, modify it with color grading, layer mixing, and keying, similar to the existing strip modifiers but a lot less limited.

Hello Pablo, there are three selection modes in the blender in editing mode, these are vertices, edges and faces, it would be a good idea to add a new selection mode there, selecting entire sections of the model, it already exists and it can be used using the L key, but if for example I want to randomly select a part of entire sections of the model, I won't be able to do this because I will choose either the edges, or edges, or faces, but not whole sections, this could be a good function, a mode for selecting entire sections of the model

What couod be done is use the select linked perhaps for this. That is basically the same your asking for right? It could be added perhaps as a button. I 💬 NJ the code is already there.

Another idea, just tested it. I make a custom short cut like CMD left click mouse button. The plus point about this, it works in all modes as well and you dont need to lift your hand from mouse or tablet

Hey Pablo, how's it going?
Will there be a proxy system in Blender? like maybe an extension to the asset browser? Like a way to show a low Poly version of the geo in viewport but high Poly only in the render? There might be addons for this, but a feature that's related to performance and optimization might be better if it's built into blender. Thanks.

As for LOD, this is already possible with geometry nodes.

There is a free addon developed by scatter addon dev and it's called lodify. It works quite amazing. Perhaps have a look at that

Hi Pablo, how was your weekend?
Is node based physic coming in blender 3.3 or later?

Hola Pablo,
Is a change to UV packing a part of the upcoming UV improvements? The current UV packing algorithm does not place UV islands inside holes of bigger islands.
I am currently using addons for packing so it isnt a high priority feature i guess.
Have a great day!

Hi Pablo. Is there any way to rotate while duplicating lots of objects? I can't zoom out after selecting an object to copy now making it almost impossible to work with lots of small items at times.
Here is my idea. If the axis lock (Middle Mouse Button down) is changed to (Shift + Middle Mouse Button down) then we could use pan, rotate, zoom and do axis locking while duplicating objects making work heaps easier. What do you think about this usability idea?
Duplicate: Shift + D
During the duplicate
Shift to snap to points
Zoom: Scroll wheel or Ctrl + Middle Mouse Button down
The bottom menu says we can rotate by holding down the middle button but we can't (maybe a bug) it locks the axis instead so the instruction are wrong.
I'm sure everyone would love this.

Hola Pabz! Hope you're havin' a swell time over there! :)
My question is - why isn't the state of the outliner saved when saving a file? Every time we open a file after starting Blender, all of the collections have their dropdown state as 'active'. This seems like a minor issue, but having to 'deactivate' the dropdown state of all the collections every time a file is opened gets annoying lol. It almost defeats one of the aesthetic importance of having collections - for better organization and reduction of clutter, visually.
Have a great week and weekend! :D

Hey Pablo! How's your Monday going?
Two weeks ago I asked when the geometry nodes editor was going to be added to the editor switching pie menu, but you seemed confused about what I was asking. I attached a screenshot of what I mean:

Also if Elon Musk buys Blender, will we finally get light linking?

oi, Pablo!
is there any news on geometry nodes presets/premade node groups or possibly, dare I say, a direct way to share node groups as files? or are they assets in the asset browser? I should really get to that, but I think the workflow changed recently to something better. it can be a little clunky appending them from files manually. (maybe "bulk append" could be an addon to work on...)
also on that note, I may have asked already, but what is your take on having multiple solvers with overlapping uses in blender? powerful? better left to addons? what are your thoughts on uber solvers like Vellum, that are inter-material and matter phase? how about mantaflow updates? multi-volume, aggregate volume support?
also, any news on the baking workflow?
sorry about the potpourri questions, but I'm really curious!

Do you know if there's going to be options for preset paint brushes with the new paint update coming up
(Sorry if you just answered this I just woke up in America)
Thanks

Hi Pablo! I just wanted to voice my appreciation for you and the Blender team. I have use Blender for 11 years now and am working as an environment and prop artist in the industry still using Blender as my main tool. I love that the Blender team is so open about everything they are doing and what they are developing. I watch most of these livestreams to try to keep up with how fast Blender is being developed and am excited about where it is going! You are doing great work :)

The merge by distance node is useful, but limited in certain cases. Has anyone considered a merge by index mode? All points assigned the same index would be merged. For instance, points 0 would be merged, but not with points assigned 1, or any other number.
This would be incredibly useful in cases when you need to extrude two adjacent faces and merge the caps, but not with each other.
I have found a workaround by storing the index to the position, merging, and resetting to the original position, but it's a bit complicated and hacky.

Hello Pablo,
first of all, I wanted to thank you for all your videos, which are to me an essential part of community link I think. I have seen all of them since the beginning of Code Quest.
And about the question, I wanted to know if it is planned to be able to have a group of parent & its children as an asset. For now, we can place them in a collection to get similar use, but the empty parent grouping is more flexible, as it is frequent to get such a set when importing from other formats (and for people interested in the study of comparing Collection and parenting to an empty, you can check
Blender Bob about the subject
).
Anyway, yay for your marvelous work all of you in Blender Institute/Studio/Cloud/Whatever…

Have you seen this AI based application in development named DALL-E 2? It is an AI that can draw anything you ask it for. It's terrifying and amazing at the same time. What do you think about it? Cheers!
