Export Selection Only on by default in 2.8

When exporting OBJs or STLs, it is should be default that it exports only the selected objects. This was the default behavior before the "Selection Only" checkbox was added to all exporters in 2.7x, and inexplicably turned off by default. Changing this default to always "on" is not easy, requiring editing configuration files deep in the file system.

Optionally, it would be acceptable if Blender remembered the state of this option from session to session.

A third possibility would be to add an option to the properties to set this one way or the other for all exporters.

But, seriously, this should be on by default for all exporters.

I was about to create a new entry until I found your's. I also think is more intuitive to always export only what is selected.

-Turning this option on each time one opens blender is not ideal, especially during a tiring/stressful work sessions.

-It's easy to forget and accidentally freeze blender by writing a huge file.

-There are very few situation where one would want to export every single object in the scene, including auxiliary hidden meshes that are irrelevant outside the scene.

This is super easy to implement as seen in the picture. Is just a matter of opening each IO init.py and search for 'selection only' and then set the default to True.

it is easy. for stl e.g. go to "scripts\ addons\ io_mesh_stl\ _init _ .py" and set to true use_selection: BoolProperty( name="Selection Only", description="Export selected objects only", default=True,

Three year old suggestion with 53 upvotes for something that really ain't a nobrainer and it's still not implemented?

where is this option located?

* @Felipe Torrents * Thanks a million for this. I was tearing my hair out, after a long night of editing a design, exporting 10 copies of the entire scene before I realized what was going on.

I made a similar post to this before. Apparently it's up to the 3rd party exporters to do what they please. So we can't really change it blender.community/c/rightclickselect/gxcbbc/
