Sculpt: Mask Select tool (from the Sculpt Dev Branch)
The sculpt dev branch is a branch that developers used to test and develop new sculpting features. Unfortunately, the branch is not in active development anymore, but it still has some very useful features that didn't made it to the main Blender version... so it would be great if they were ported to the main Blender...
One of the features is:
The Mask Select tool
This is called "Mask Select" in the branch but this is essentially the "Mask Expand" feature but as a tool, therefore more intuitive and easy to use, with all the falloff types already there for you to choose beforehand...
To use the regular Mask Expand feature in the main Blender version, you run the operator either by a hotkey or from the mask menu, and to switch the falloff type you have to press a hotkey while the modal operator is running, so you have to remember a lot of hotkeys or you have to look for the right one in the long list of hotkeys in the status bar, which is kind of a cumbersome workflow imo...
As a tool all you have to do is choose the falloff type and start masking...

Also worth noting that there's an additional falloff type called "Polyloop" which is not available in the Mask Expand operator in the main Blender version... This one is very interesting because it masks a loop of faces and expands from there, which is very useful...

Cool stuff... 👌
